Half inch paint scratch

Recommended Posts

Depending on the shop's hourly rate, it will probably run you in the range of $500.00 to $800.00 dollars, because it's quite likely they will have to paint the whole door skin for proper paint matching.

In my experience those mobile dent/scratch guys do a fantastic job. I had the garage door put two nice slices on the bumper of my 03 Term. A place called dent pro came out and when he was done you couldn't even see it. He sprayed the whole bumper, heat gunned it and clear coated it. The whole job cost me $150.

Just a hint, ask your car dealer what dent service they use. Sometimes cars come off the trailer scratched and they repair them before they hit the showroom.

Run by a couple good body shops in your area. I've had a few scratches/dings like yours repaired on other cars, and you would be suprised what they can do. Bring the correct touch up paint from Ford, they will fill the scratch, let it dry and refill about 3 times until the paint in the scratch is level with the rest of the door paint. They then sand with super fine grit sandpaper and a buffing wheel and it "almost" disappers. At least no one will see it but you. Beats repainting the whole door (which can have its own issues) and I've never been charged over a hundred bucks.

Will do thanks all, BYW I should mention the guys who quoted me are top notch they once buffed out a few surface scratch for me at no change. I think they jsut want to make sure it is done11% correctly. If anyone know a good mobile repair place in the Denver area that would be great.

I don't disagree with shopping around and looking for other less expensive alternatives to repair the scratch, but the quoted price from your shop is unfortunately, spot on.

Nothing is cheap nowadays.

I had a disgruntled crazy lady employee, keyed my drivers side door for about 8 inches, cost me $630. I had to shop around a bit but they did a nice job. I knew she did it, she knew I knew she did it. Didnt have any proof. I could have killed!

Matt, you could tackle the job yourself, and if you do, these articles/stories might help you get through it...

those shops are ripping you guys off, at my dads body shop we charge about $50-$75 for a door we do bumpers from $100-$150, these are all minor scratches or dents.with the paint systems their are today depending where that scratch you have is, they shouldn't have to blend into the fender or quarter especially because most Shelby are a solid color, besides the silvers and the blue .if i were you i would look into local shops.doesnt hurt to check around check out their shops and ask around who people recommend

Your estimate is amazing. Can you take a picture to show the group?

Try these with and without flash, depening on your monitor you may be able to see one set better then another.

Lol, it was a joke. Glad you didn't flip your lid.

Hope the car gets taken care of.
