moabman Posted February 15, 2010 Report Share Posted February 15, 2010 Team Oracle BMW just won the America's Cup back from Team Alinghi from Switzerland. Team Oracle Racing (TOR) used the tallest (longest?) wing ever built to completely dominate the Swiss catamaran which was equiped with a conventional rig. Both designs were fantastic feats of technology and were able to take 7 knots of breeze and generate 20+ knots of boatspeed on all points of sail. Not bad for 90 foot boats! In fact, TOR 90 nickednamed "DoGzilla" even hit 30 knots of boatspeed on Sundays reaching legs. The next America's Cup will probably be sailed some where in the San Francisco area. One of the team is a SGT owner!!! Shannon bought the car from me in 07 and had SA mod it for him! I think hes was the FIRST SGT sent back to Vegas to be modded! Great guy! Kinda guy you would like to go to the bars with and pick up girls! They would be all over him! Speaks like 6 languages!! He spent the day with me while we did some work on his car.
