Wouldn't it be awesome if Ford could do this for us? Would take 15 minutes per car. Not enough profit built in for that?

i believe that ensuring all the parts fit together before it leaves the factor is something the manufacturer of any car should take care of. there are manufacturers of products similar to ours (eg Deere Lawnmowers manufacturing) that QC check every unit produced. no reason all of fords units shouldn't get a QC check the identifies misfit panels.

even if the company is not experiencing the best of financial times...maybe they make cuts here and there and some measures of QC are usually first to get cut. even if thats the case, make sure that any customer dissatisfaction is promptly and correctly addressed. when my xbox RROd'ed, microsoft promptly set me up with a zero cost REPLACEMENT unit and a free month of online game play. in Microsoft's case, when a QC error lead to a faulty unit reaching the customer, they addressed the problem in a prompt manner.

a company may have to cut QC, but they should never cut customer service. my having to check that the panels fit together is evidence that ford is reducing QC. the problem arises with poor response to a customer's request to ensure that the problem is addressed.

* steps off :soapbox:
