DubbsFaris
Mike Howell is having some problems with his car, as the dealer decided 5.5 quarts of oil was about 3 quarts more than it needed , and he just bought a new house, so I think he is nesting currently...and about to kill Covert Ford. White GT500 vert lol @41k for a 07 with almost 40k miles man, thats nuts! You can buy a new 08 for less! Typical San Antonio dealers...I have yet to find a single salesperson in all of the city that has any working knowledge, except, "you know Shelby, racing legend and you wont find another car in the city like this!" CSX4350
Who has new 08's on the lot? I wouldn't part with mine for 41k. And yes, the salesmen around here know squat. I talked to a "truck specialist" today who didn't have the slightest idea what the 2007.5 diesel emission standards meant to trucks, or why I am looking for a used Dodge Dually Cummins built before those emissions standards went into effect. I've talked to 3 different salesmen on the phone this week who can't even bother to call me back. They think it's the customers duty to give them money I guess. I had one in Dallas who wanted a $500 non-refundable deposit over the phone just so I could come up and look at the truck!
MustangSal500
So get this, one of my co-workers comes to me and says, hey my husband bought a shelby. I was like awesome, what kind. He bought a 07 black SGT for 10,001.00. No lie, it was from an old lady selling her husbands car collection because he passed away. What a steal. On a side note/question, I was looking at headers/ xpipe for the gt500, and i was looking at evo's site for systems, they have 1 3/4, 1 7/8 and 2' systems, besides the ford racing CAI my engine is stock and will be for a while, whats everyone's opinion on a choice for headers? Why are you wanting to start with headers? Ive done a lot, but havent wanted to mess with headers. Merry Xmas and lets get together soon! Any other cars left from the estate sale? CSX4350
I agree, headers are expensive, a PITA to install, and on the bang-for-the-buck scale about as low as you can go. If you want a huge improvement get Evo's Stage 2, less money than the headers you're looking at and a monster improvement in power.
Captain Beyond
Headers are not worth the $ and install headaches in a stock GT500. They are only beneficial in high boost hp engines. You would be better off with some suspension mods as these cars handle like crap stock.
sportscars
+1 on the handling. The suspensions on these cars were sourced from the Lincoln parts bins. Sal, talk to Warren as I think he has done pretty much the best mods for the buck. You need to do a ride along with him one day. Borla axle back exhaust, CAI, 2.6 pully, tune, slightly better tires, FRPP shifter and now the Eibach suspension.

DubbsFaris
Hi Everyone! Recently purchased a 2008 Shelby GT coupe and would like to know of any upcomming get togethers in the SA/Austin area. Hey Dan, Welcome to the team! You will find that hanging out is a lot of fun, but some of our get togethers are just a blast! We plan a meet and greet end of January, and a fun ride get together end of February. If you dont want to check here often, PM me your email, and Ill keep you posted that way. Warren
MustangSal500
Welcome to the club Dan! @the suggestions, I dont take my car out racing and everyone knows i drive it daily and so im just trying to get the car to sound like i want, the suspension improvements would be nice, but i dont race around in the car where i feel i'd get the full benefit from it. I used to have the SGT and to me, i prefer the ride of the GT500. I appreciate everyones input, Warren i'll get with you, maybe i can ride along in your car like Sean said and see how yours is. sportscars
Yesterday I saw TWO Shelbys out driving in that horrible weather (no offense Sal). Saw that GT-H vert that I see fairly often on Evans and 281 and then saw a blue/white stripe 2010 GT500 on 281 towards downtown. I pulled up next to him and he said his car was for sale. I told him to post it on here. He was not a member he said. Hopefully he will pop in.

With all the hp and crappy stock handling, they are downright dangerous in the rain. BTW, I saw a blue GT500KR yesterday on 410. :fool:
DubbsFaris
Sal, just get with me anytime...we should get together anyway...I dont need an excuse to get out and drive. Just pick a decent weather day. :happy feet: Ive added QUITE a few goodies since our get together! I really let the mod fever get out of control! Captain, I said the EXACT thing back to Sean when he texted me the sightings...that was a HORRIBLE day to drive a Shelby. I'd buy a 500.00 beater just to drive on days where the weather stays below 40... thats only like 3 days a year here
MustangSal500
Sean, no offense taken , yes i drove my car on the tuesday you mention, but i guess i always seem to luck out, i got mist on my drive, no rain. i leave really early to my work everyday(6-630am) so on the occation it does rain, theres not a lot of traffic. If i had the luxury of a 2nd car i'd use it on rainy days but until then........ Warren, i'll get with you after the holiday season to find a nice day. Everyone have a safe and fun new years!! Captain Beyond
That sucks.... I can't believe how many times I hear about dealers making these kinds of mistakes. +1 I just had my oil changed at the dealer ealier this week. If I hadn't told them about my car using 5W50 full synthetic, they would've put in the 5W20 that they have in bulk and put in all the other cars. They got 7 quarts from their parts dept. and I asked them for the half a quart back since our cars require 6.5 quarts. I wonder how many GT500s are running around with the wrong oil. sportscars
What does everybody's schedule look like on the 23rd or the 30th? I know we have playoffs, but was thinking we might could get together for a few somewhere. Looks like we have as many or more Shelbys from Austin as we do San Antonio. Lets look at San Marcos. Several people have suggested Bikini's.

Sean, 23rd is a good day...that is conference championship weekend, but both games will be on the 24th. Lee, I will go out there to hang out and watch, but with a Vert I am limited to 130 MPH....hell I'll do that on the way down there....
