Corporate Average Fuel Economy Standards

Recommended Posts

President Obama announces Corporate Average Fuel Economy standard for 2016. Expect an average of 39 mpg for cars and 30 mpg for trucks. The goal is to cut green house gases by 30 percent by 2016. (As reported in the August edition of Motor Trend)

With the new Government mandated standards you will see a greater push for all electric vehicles, and yes they are zero emissions vehicles.

Not so fast, where does that electricity come from? The only viable low emission electrical generating systems are Nuclear and hydro electric. We have not built any new Nuclear plants in decades and many hydro electric dams have been removed. The only electrical generating plants remaining are the already over taxed coal and oil fired plants, which are producing more green house gases every day than all the cars in the United States and fueled by foreign oil and coal. Where exactly have we improved our situation .

Dont worry....it's the AVERAGE Fuel Economy......all they need to do is build one Truck that gets 65 MPG and cut down on the Number of different Trucks, SUV's and Vans that they build. For the Cars, they build 2 Models that get 65 MPG.
