Found a member on another forum that never installed them, and recently sold his car. So I got them for about $100 cheaper :happy feet:

I installed the blue FRPP covers and I really like them a lot better than the stockers. Ken
motorjock205
Question for you guys who have replaced your valve covers...Are there new gaskets that need to be purchased??? I'm thinking about just pulling mine off and painting them myself...unemployed and can't afford to buy the powder coated ones right now, but have plenty of time on my hands....So do I need new gaskets or can I reuse originals??? I dont think there would be a problem, they have a o-ring type seal. I looked into paying someone to powdercoat the stock ones but would of costed within $80 of buying new ones, I didnt think $80 was worth the hassle. Not sure if you have to use high temp. paint or not. Good luck

That's what I did. I didn't see a point to buying new ones if I could pull mine and paint with hi temp black paint in a can. Oh, I did replace my gaskets. I didn't want any surprises from going cheep on this project.
stngfever
These "gaskets" aren't what you would think. They are as a previous poster stated more like an o-ring style. Most people just re-use without an issue. The covers from FRPP came with a new one already in place on the gasket, so I used that one. I was prepared to re-use mine til I saw the covers had them. stngfever
No problem. I followed a write up from TMS that helped out tremendously on this. http://forums.bradbarnett.net/showthread.php?t=453730 Only thing I would add is to go ahead and disconnect the coil overs and the plugs going into the fuel rail for each side as it makes the job a lot easier. The write-up doesn't speak to this til the second side. Thanks for all the compliments. stngfever
just curious. why did you leave the filler cap extension off? Nice Catch. You noticed that in the remainder of the PICS. Guest hfrosso
i also think that there's too much black in there, but ave to say that it does look good on your black SGT. I went with the chrome valve covers, only problem is i haven't been able to take a good picture of it . they draw a lot of attention at car shows, and they're a lot of fun to clean it!!!! belive me!!! motorjock205
I am thinking of the blue ones or buying some spare ones and having a paint shop paint them Grabber orange. Grabber Orange Valve Covers would definately be UNIQUE on your car! I think those would look cool on there! Post pics for sure if you do that! One more question here on the original valve covers...can the original bolts be removed from the original covers so I can polish or paint them??? I saw someone say that there is something that holds the bolts in the covers...just want to make sure I can take them out of the covers so I can polish or paint...whichever I finally decide to do... bump
