GT500 wing

Recommended Posts

does anyone know where to get a GT500 wing?

You replied "lose it man, the car will look so much better... imo at least" on the SSF forums Wing or no Wing... thread. ( http://www.stangsofsouthflorida.com/forum/...4166&page=2 ) Have you changed your opinion? ..lol If you get one, it's best to get a real OE GT500 Spoiler either from Ford Racing or a Ford Accessories purchase. The Ford Accessories version comes with the needed template for drilling, which you need. I was fortunate to get one from KC at Clevenger Ford, using one of his ebay auctions. Ebay had sent me an 8% discount coupon, so the Buy It Now purchase cost me only $201, including shipping. Remember, then it has to be painted.

The auction I bought my spoiler was same as this one. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...4&viewitem= However, KC currently has no auctions and I doubt he has any more at this price. His usual ebay price is around $250, plus $18 or shipping.

On ebay, there's a guy that sells them that is local (Pompano Bch.). Maybe you can get one from him, at least there would be no shipping. Here's link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2007-2008-2...sQ5fAccessories

Here's my SGT with its GT500 wing.

It's really interesting how personal tastes are so varied. I really think that one of the main best features of my SGT is that it doesn't have a spoiler. It looks so much better than any of those that do IMHO. Others feel that there's something missing without one and they're WRONG! :hysterical:

I went with the KR spoiler!

:happy feet:

Smooth lines of Spoiler delete, but a touch of balance for the rear deck....it was a compromise for me.

Nice touch. Clean install and a nice job! Looks good.

Talking about the KR spoiler:

I like that one, too. Is it the same as the V6 Pony Package (2007+)? (Uses the same holes as the GT pedestal spoiler?)

I believe that on the GT-or-better coupes these rear wings have an effect at some of the speeds they can attain, and on the convertibles they are "window dressing". I'd like to have "spoiler delete" on the convertible, but haven't found the right swap. Plugging and refinishing the pedestal holes seems like a waste, somehow. Looks as if that "KR" option might be a viable alternative.

Is there a preferred source? How much should I expect to pay to have a primered spoiler painted car-color/clearcoat?

That is correct!

You can buy them factory painted take-off as I did:

$119

They still have Vista, Go and White, looks like black (the slowest color) is sold out.

It makes me think how my convertible would look like with one of these installed.

I like the Roush spoiler too.

Thank you. That would be perfect. As much as I like those available colors (on other peoples' cars), no black kind of kills it.

Plus which, I am one of the apparently very few who have had trouble with Mr newtakeoff.

It's always something.

Thanks again.

Yikes!

Then look to get one from your Ford dealer using the Accessory Catalog if possible.

Good luck!

Jeff,

I thought you went with the V6 spoiler? Or is it that the KR went with the V6 spoiler too? KR sounds better than V6 eh? :poke:

edit - I think it looks great on your car :happy feet:

Seems to me there is evidence that Mr Agent 47's "Vortex Generators" render less racy wings more functional.

I have quite a few of these AirTab items left over from a previous experiment on my V6 convertible. I'm going to try them on the white coupe in the "Agent47" location; my question is, should I paint them white, or leave them "natural plastic black", in keeping with the white car's trim?

Hard to believe it's been less than two weeks since this discussion.

Today my black GT/CS convertible is KR-spoilered!

There is a seller on eBaY who will send you a primered one for $240. The $119 ones left in stock were Vista Blue and Candy Apple Red Metallic. I gambled on newtakeoff (half price!) and the red one arrived Wednesday. Today the dealer painted it, took off the GT protuberance, and put the KR item in its place. It looks good, and came in at twice the takeoff price, once matching color to the car was taken care of, something still to be done with the eBaY and dealer part options. A bargain at twice the price!

Having seen that Candy Apple Red up close, I was tempted to change the car color to match it. So, if there is Candy Apple Red under the black of the spoiler, does that cancel the "slow effect" of the black?

Actually, this KR spoiler pretty much completes the cosmetics of the black convertible. Now I'm tempted to do similar to the white coupe, but first, I have to get rid of the "appearance package" hood scoop. Sure would be nice to find a local white scoopless car to trade hoods with.

Bummer they used to have hoods too for $499, and I was seriously thinking of buying one, oh well...keep an eye on ebay!
