one_quik_pony
A friend sent me this... http://www.kpho.com/news/19389185/detail.html# In a statement, Mecum said, "I have no particular memory of the facts nor have I had an opportunity to review any of the evidence in this particular matter. As a consequence, I have entered no plea in this matter. I expect to and look forward to having an opportunity to see all the information DPS has collected and I will evaluate that information prior to entering any pleas in this matter. QuadCam
I find it hard to find fault with someone enjoying their Shelby. It is not as if there was traffic which put others at risk. Now, why he didn't know where the radar camera was located is dumb. ...and his reply was pure politicalspeak. If someone shoved a microphone in my face after clocking my run exceeding a buck forty, I'd try to BS my answer as well. I only hope I would a better job... 69dejavue
AZ is trying to have a ballot initiative to outlaw radar cameras in 2010. Hopefully they can do that since their miseralble communist governor has left the state to work in the obama administration. Of course she is now screwing up Homeland Security. She said she would balance the budget using income from radar cameras.

In one aspect, I'd like to know how RADAR cameras get past case law whereas a police officer first has to determine for their self that the vehicle was speeding, and then rely on the RADAR for a reading. Then there's also testimony for audio being the only way to determine a true reading from a false one. Does case law mean nothing nowadays? Second for the OP, it's not like he was caught with tens of thousands of dollars in his refrigerator under criminal circumstances or selling his influence in national security matters. Politicians have been caught doing worse. They are going to make an example out of him, looks like. Least the picture was not incriminating to the point where his face looked like it was taken off a roller coaster camera, and he was flipping the camera off, or something, ha-ha

09KR0058
How popular are radar cameras? I only have heard of them in Europe... are they just located in Arizona? Unfortunately, they are all over the place. A couple months ago, I got a new radar detector (Escort Passport 9500ix), which has a database of all radar cameras and red light cameras in the US. Every couple weeks, they provide an update to the database, which you download to your computer, then upload to the Passport. Its really sweet the way it works. The unit has a GPS, so when you get within about a half mile of the camera, you start getting warnings about one coming up. This baby was well worth the price, even BEFORE I got my KR. jdscooby
We have them everywhere here in Az. They even have mobile ones that they move around. Did you guys hear that a couple of weeks ago some shot up a mobile unit in the Phoenix area. unfortunatley the driver/worker was in the vehicle. Was killed in the incident. http://www.azcentral.com/news/articles/200...ooting0429.html

09KR0058
I remember reading a story, years ago, when they first started using these cameras in California on the Interstates. They were bragging on the technology, how expensive they were, and how flawless they worked. Then, they noticed that dozens of the cameras were taking blank pictures. Took them months to figure out the problem. A $2.00 can of black spray paint.

I never realized how many red-light cameras there were in metro Atlanta until I got this detector. Not that I run red lights anyway, but its good to know if you are approaching an intersection on a yellow light.

Took them months to figure out the problem. A $2.00 can of black spray paint. That IS funny. This is interesting too, I did not know they were using them in the States. It sucks when you have to drive with that feeling of always having to look behind your back. I do not speed often, but once in a while I like open it up... There was a system at one point (don't know if anyone has heard of this), but it is a unit that is mounted on the patrol car itself. There are cameras mounted pointed every which direction that automatically runs plates, and I forget how many it can process per second. I think this technology is currently in use in Canada? They upload the database into the car before each shift, and the system gives off an audible alarm to the driver, and automatically pulls up the "file" on the laptop (expired registration, stolen car, warrant, etc)... personally, I would like to see more politicians driving Shelby's. This would be a much better world! I would not mind seeing that either, ha-ha. Its a very impressive unit. The Highway Patrol has been testing this here in Tennessee. I wouldn't have a problem with it if the LEO can set how expired the tags had to be before it was flagged. I gave people 30 days, cuz it's pretty common for working people to take that long to get inspections and time off to stand in line at the DMV. I especially like how it flags warrants. It really is quite remarkable. The news clip I seen was in use in Canada, and it showed the police officer driving through a parking lot, going about 10mph. The computer scanned all plates on his left and right as he drove through the parking light, and also picked up plates in front and behind the car as he was traveling down the city streets. There was one plate that denoted the car stolen from the US (I think), and they staked out and ended up catching the thief with kidnapping, I think...
