I don't know exactly although I believe it's electronically limited to 155mph and after that it's probably pure speculation. Since it's a different engine trans set up ... change in rear end gearing and tune from prior years who knows... I'm gonna guess 170 ish

This brings up an interesting point that I've been curious about. My KR supplement manual says that its "electronically limited to 155MPH". I had a chance to really punch it a few days ago on a long straightaway on I-575, and hit 130 in no time. I was still quite away from the red-line on the tach. So, if I had kept going, and not hit the red-line, would something in the electronic controls keep me from exceeding 155?

Inquiring minds want to know!!!

If the tune on the KR limits your speed... it would be like the engine just kind of hits a wall... Governor :banghead:

GM/Ford put that limiter in several years ago because thats the speed rating limit for most tires--when you hit it,its like a rev limiter. For some reason the vettes dont have it, maybe its because the tires are run flats and cost $500 each--but i hit 170 at Road Atlanta in the long starighaway off turn 8 .At high speed the aero of the car begins to limit speed as well. But only do it on a track, and with a helmit on.

I would think with the speed limiter removed it would do over 190 mph since a guy in germany took a stock GT500 with tune on the Autobonn did 196. With the 2010 having better aerodynamics it may do a little more.

Just my .02 here but I would think after a tune from FRP or any of the other companies that we should be able to change the limiter. If the Challenger can do 175mph then I think unlimited our cars are easily capable of that. I know with my 09 I can hit 120-125mph just before the rev limiter in 3rd and she is still stock. So I dunno? :headscratch:

The 2010 Shelby comes with P255/40ZR19 IN THE FRONT AND P285/35ZRI9 ON REAR.

ZR are great tires--have them on 2 cars--they are rated at 149+, depending on car maker design etc. I have a car on the track at way past that, with 12 turns, and it was fine--no rev limiter in the stock car.Are the new tires run flats,ie no spare??

Various sources are showing a top speed of 155 for the gt500 but Garage 419 is saying it is 175. Anyone know the official top speed for the 2010 shelby?

Given the car's power, drag coefficient, and other characteristics it should do around 185 MPH with proper gearing. That is, the rear end gear is changed so that you are at about readline (max HP) in fifth gear at 185 MPH.

If I remember correctly I remember seeing that in fourth you will redline at 145mph, which is a joke considering the 155pmh limit. I remember hearing that 180 is possible on a stock car. Now with the changes in gearing to the 2010 who knows

They are limited @ 155 ish they can go alot faster but the SCT/FRPP tuners used do not remove or raise the high speed governor. It can be done but that would require the owner to get it done. I think its a litigious matter for businesses...

You probably meant 6th gear.

Nope, meant fifth gear. Totally stock from the factory a 2010 GT500 is geared in 5th for a top speed of about 192 MPH but does not have the power to get there -- would need about 595 HP at the flywheel.

If you changed out the rear end to a 3.73 you would top out at around 185 MPH in 5th gear with 540 HP at the flywheel.

Sixth gear is too high to do anything with re top speed -- the resulting engine RPMs are too low = not near max HP.

From my experiences I have found that a upgraded 07 GT 500 with tune CAI and pulley will only achieve 173mph. in the Texas Mile. Try as I may in a 2 mile run it would still only get to 173mph. Once up graded to a SS 725 hp the Texas Mile run would only do 162mph, Shelby limited. Changing rear tires from 27 to 29 inches tall it went 175mph. Lifting the Speed limiter with the taller tires good fuel and a 2 7/8 pulley it ran 186mph in the mile. I have seen all the posts about this car going 190 plus in stock form, just can't see that happening. The box stock 07 08 GT 500 should do low to mid 160s in the mile. If your not that good of a driver you might get a couple more miles per hour in 2 or 3 miles flat out but not much more. I posted the speed form I use. Oh and the rev limiter and speed act total different, the rev cuts out every other cyl. fire where as the speed just pulls back on fuel. You will know when you hit the rev limit but its hard to tell when your standing on the speed limiter. Hope this help. My guess for the new 2010 is mid to high 160s with the limiter off a stock 2010.

Attaining top speed in a mile is different than absolute top speed as you know. Acceleration will generally limit the speed attained in one mile. Would agree with you re somewhere around 170 MPH absolute top speed for the 2010 GT500 but only because the stock gearing is not matched to the ultimate speed potential that the 540 HP and car configuration should produce. With a rear end gear change to 3.73 there is an ideal overall HP and gear ratio match in 5th gear at around 185 MPH. Would also probably want to have "Y" rated tires for such a run.

I hit the speed limiter (5th gear) at 160 in my brothers vert last year in west texas (terlingua). You can tell the car is cutting power. Took well over two miles to get there though.

I think he has it on video he took from the pass seat. I'll check. It was a wild ride to say the least.
