Some others and all-around interesting facts: - No state income tax (and a budget surplus) - Austin is the live music capital of the US - Great weather (if you dont like it, wait 10 minutes - it will change) - The Constitution of 1845, which was the resolution that allowed Texas into the Union, stated that Texas had the right to divide into 4 states in addition to the original Texas. That legal right still remains true. - The Capitol In Austin, built of Texas pink granite, stands seven feet higher than that of the nation's Capitol in Washington, D.C. (it is the only one taller than D.C.'s) - To be elected in the State of Texas, one must believe in a supreme being - We have an airport that is larger than New York City's Manhattan Island - Texas is a large as all New England, New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Illinois combined Just bragging a little..... I've have been to Austin once, work related trip so I did not get a lot of time to check the town out, but what I did see, it was a very nice place.The hospitality of the people I met there....well you already know, it was like we had been BFF for years :beerchug: . Thats so true. I grew up in Houston and have lived in Texas for about 20 years of my life. I now live in San Antonio and feel this is the place that I'm going to retire to when I get out of the Air Force. You will see it fairly often on bumper stickers and sometimes shirts. It goes like this: I wasn't born in Texas, but I got here as quick as I could. As a kid I can rember one of the big events was going out to watch oil rigs being broke down and kicking around the tumble weeds! My uncle is from Texas and I respect him very much. I enjoy talking with him. BTW McCain/Palin won both Texas and W Va!! Of course, where there's common sense!!
