Las Vegas vist

My wife and I were fortunate enough to have made the trip from Texas to Las Vegas in our '07 SGT. It was a great trip, but the treatment I received while visiting the Shelby World Headquarters, museum, gift shop, and Corner Cafe were the highlight of my trip. I got to meet some incredible people while there, including Amy Boylan (the GREATEST!), Sharon Elliot and Robert Lane (ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL), and the other staff, who, unfortunately, I didn't get their names. My wife and I were so impressed with every aspect of our visit. I would also like to thank Doug for the great museum tour. The Shelby Corner Cafe was beyond my expectations. The food was excellent, the service and prices were just as impressive. It would have been great to meet te Man himself, but he was taking care of business elsewhere. If you haven't been, GO!!! If you have been, plan a return trip. I know I will be. Unfortunately, I'm only home for a short time each year, but htis time was very memorable. Thanks to all at Shelby for making this a remarkable vacation.

It is pretty cool to see where our cars were born. I have been there three times and the way SAI treats us as owners when we come on by is as good as it gets. Glad you enjoyed your time there.

My wife and I were there yesterday too. We came up from Phoenix and stopped for lunch and the museum. We brought our 08 SGT. While there I met 2 guys picking up a 427. Turned out they were from north Montana where I grew up. Met another gentleman that had just dropped off his SGT to be supercharged. Sorry, forgot his name. He says he is on this forum so maybe he'll see this and give me his name again (old age). We also stopped at Scott Drake. I am interested in the Shelby panhard in the catalog. They said it will be out in the next 60 days.

I echo your sentiments. :happy feet: We have been there twice and are planning two more trips, one after ski season and one for the NHRA Las Vegas Nationals over Halloween. We met Roger Sorel, the registry guy, outside the Cafe and had Adrianne as our tour guide. They were both great and were as passionate about Shelbys as we are. It is good to actually find employees who love their products and companies. It is a rare thing these days. It says alot. Thanks guys. :happy feet::drool:

After my first two trips to SAI, no trip to Vegas again will be complete without a trip to SAI  and a meal or two at the cafe. So much for the diet my thinks I should stick to :hysterical:

  • 1 month later...

The first time I ever drove a Shelby was back in 1976. It was a '67 GT500 that a classmate had, and I wanted to buy. Didn't happen. Fast-forward to March 2nd, 2009, my 50th birthday, I got to drive MY 2007 Shelby GT for the first time. I had just gotten into my home town from Afghanistan, and after my surprise birthday party, I drove it to Wal-Mart and back because it was late at night, but there was no way I was going to miss the opportunity. A few days later, my wife and I took the Las Vegas trip. It was worth the wait. I have attached some pics that I really enjoy. Being a member of Team Shelby and the connection with everyone on this forum makes it just that much better. Thanks.

Great birthday present  My new black (fastest) :stirpot: 07SGT was my Christmas present in 2007 :happy feet: It has been a life changer in the best of ways for me. I never had an opportunity to drive or purchase any Shelby until then. I joined Team Shelby and realized I am not the only one who is a devoted fan/owner. I look forward to logging in every day because you guys are the only ones who really "get it" when taking about our cars :grouphug: . My wife gets tired of hearing about "that stupid car" :slapfight:

I can't wait 'til mid June. We are going to the Rainbow Casino Father's Day cruise weekend,in Wendover NV, west of Salt Lake City, coming home Sunday just long enough to pack and leave for Vegas on Monday mornng for 5 nights :happy feet: Look out SAI,Corner Cafe and Margaritaville :tequila:

I bought the car while I was still in Afghanistan and had it shipped home to Texas. A friend picked it up and took it to my house. My wife had not driven it yet, so she told me on the phone that she was going to take my Mustang to get the state inspection and registration, I said "You mean the Shelby?" (We have two other Mustangs.) She said,"It is a Mustang, isn't it?" I told her that techincally it IS, but it is soooo much more. After she drove it the following day, she told me she will never call it a Mustang again! She is very supportive of my current and future upgrades. I'm awaiting delivery of my interior to the installer, and I just got Shelby GT center caps for my stock wheels. I also got the matching decal for the faux cas cap. Looking forward to more 'sinister' upgrades next year.

Been ther twice also. Never do I get bored of that place, or the food. Nice people. I am in Southern AZ, so next time you head through to Vegas and want another SGT for travel company to SAI let me know. It is always a fun trip with fellow Shelby'ers. All I have to do is mention Shelby and Vegas and my wife is as ready as I am to go.

Good or bad, my wife won't drive my Shelby GT. She says it scares her. :eek5: I also told her once that I'd have to kill anybody who harmed my Shelby and claim the justifiable homicide defense :hysterical:

I did the faux gas cap when they first came out since our cars have Cobra DNA in them anyway. My next add-on is also going to be the center caps. I am still trying to decide which ones. :headscratch: I am leaning towards the cobra ones to match the gas cap.

Robert.clark2, what part of TX you in?

I was in the process of replying to you a couple of nights ago when our internet went down. Anyway, I have a home in Abilene, but I haven't spent much time there. I retired from the Army in June 2003, and I have been in the middle east since January 2004. We didn't actually buy the house until I was already over here. I have only spent about 4-5 months at home. I plan to do a couple more years, then come home for good. But, at least the miles stay down on the Shelby.
