ejrail
Adam, We live in Utah so we are already in a prime destination spot. I also work at a major ski resort here. We have 5 National Parks and numerous National Monuments in state, all less than as days drive from Salt Lake. Yellowstone (my favorite) and Jackson Hole are 5 hours north of us in Wyoming. We are about 5-6 hrs from Vegas and SAI, our favorite non park place. Utah also has lots of State Parks that almost equal the National Parks, including one with 60,000 acres of sand dunes for ATV running. We have the MIller Motorsports Park, home of the Miller Cup Mustang Challenge cars. You can take a racing class there. I was fortunate enough to take a lap in my SGT there last fall. :happy feet: My wife is extremely claustrophobic so she won't fly . We drive everywhere. In the last 2 years, we have gone to Durango Colo. to ride the steam train to Silverton. Highly recommended, especially for the Sept. fall leaf run. We went to Moab. We have been to the Bonneville Salt Flats several times, once on ATVs. We have been to Vegas 5-6 times to see the drags, SAI and shows. Vegas has lots more to do if you get out of the casinos. We went to Yellowstone 3 years ago. You'll want several days here. We did a Sanke River raft trip while in Jackson. We went to a re-enactment of the Golden Spike transcontinental railroad in northern Utah, complete with running replicas of the the original locos build from the 1860's plans. It is held on the exact spot the real one happened in 1869. This year we have another Vegas trip or 2 planned . We haven't decided on another trip, maybe the Grand Canyon or the Northern Nevada Railroad in eastern Nevada south of the Salt Flats.
wmoore
I don't travel as much as I used to but, I still travel to Newcastle WY, Rapid City SD, Bismarck ND, Minot ND, Fargo ND, Duluth MN, and Mineappolis MN. Before I retired from the AF I went to Germany, Austria, Holland, Luxemburg, Italy, France, Honduras, Korea, Bahrain, Kuwait, Iraq, UAE, Jordan and Saudi. I've seen some really cool places along the way, where Christ was baptised, the lost city of Petra, Jerash, the Dead sea, the Red sea all in Jordan. The architecture of the sky scapers in Dubia are amazing. Venice Italy, although like a big outdoor mall, is really cool and who could forget glacier skiing in Austria. The world is a BIG place with many things to see and enjoy. :happy feet:

glroy
main traveling we do is summer holidays. Route 66 is always fun ( missing the part from Chicago to Oklahoma city). most of our traveling is on the west coast. wine country is always a blast Sonoma Lodi Napa :elefant: . Concerts at outdoor venues in CA Hollywood bowl Greek theater. palm springs for the summer heat ( love the 100+ temps) Las Vegas for the Shelby museum. Disneyland so I never grow up. Next year should be my turn for the NHRA power aid nationals in Sonoma :happy feet: . In the US you have a roads that go every where it seems. we have beautiful scenery in Canada but very few roads to get there. WAS on the parries last summer and the roads just beat on the Shelby. Always up for a road trip in the Shelby.
