How Close We Came To Losing Our Freedoms

Recommended Posts

And it was Klinton that signed NAFTA.

There may be more conservatives than liberals but just wait. I will bet that obama will make a move to legalize the 13 million illegal immigrants in this country so they can not only receive health care insurance but also vote. If you add 13 million more democrats the country is gone.

Hopefully TX will start the secession movement. TX has a lot of wide open spaces but think how many people would be moving to TX! Put the National Guard on the border and deport the illegals in TX creating jobs for Texans.

It was George H.W. Bush that "fast-tracked" the signing of NAFTA... Clinton signed a ratification revising it for Canada and others...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_America...Trade_Agreement

This is a prime case in point what I'm talking about... you guys really need to do some research and get your facts

straight first before cherry picking a fact here and a fact there.

An omission really isn't any more different from telling a lie... not the truth... you guys are so deluded when it comes to what really happened and what's going on in the world today.

It was the last Administration that wanted to give illegal immigrants ID cards so they could stay in the country and Corporate

America could hire them for less than minimum wage with no benefits instead on hiring and giving millions of jobs to Americans.

Corporate America could care less that they did not pay taxes, they just wanted the cheap labor because it boosted their profit margins.

In addition, the reason we have to "Press 1 English" is also due to Corporate American bean counters realizing by keeping

them here, they would have to "eat" (i.e. rent, buy cars, etc... spend what little money they made).

The greedy Coporate Bastards even wanted that revenue stream too...

If you don't believe, just go over to your "friendly" neighborhood Home Deport, buy some flooring or storm windows and

watch who comes out to install it.

I recently paid Home Depot $1200 in labor to have some wood flooring installed... I had the installers come back later to do

some additional rooms (more square footage) on the side... the labor was $250.

Home Depot was expoitling labor... So I stuck it to them... exploited Home Depot's sub-contractor maximizing my residual

income just like they are doing.

Construction business is even worse. One of my neighbors is a Carpenter who used to make over $25 an hour a few years ago.

He was making less than $16 hour before he was laid off and replaced with... you guessed it... a illegal immigrant.

They're in every industry, meat packing, resturants, everywhere... all over America.

It was George W. Bush II who said while chuckling "These are jobs Americans don't won't..."

TOTAL BULL SH1T!!!

Teenagers can't even find part-time jobs working in fast-food because Corporate America doesn't want to pay

minimum wages.

Connect the dots... they're all lined up right in front of you...

It kills me how naive some people really are still, in this day and age.

CODE-10... OUT!!!

Good God man, you sound like Keith Oberman! You really ought to watch something other that MSNBC.

The reason “the American people kicked the Republican’s asses out office…” is because politics got in the way and too many of them became less than conservatives and tried to “appeal” to everyone. Conservative principals are the fabric of our nation.

I wouldn’t get too comfortable with a liberal majority as non-liberals far out-number liberals in this country and I’m going to make a prediction here, one that was learned the hard way by the Dems during the Clinton reign when they tried to take our guns; and that is: When conservatives/independents finally have enough of this liberal crap (and it’s becoming more and more apparent everyday that this is the case) they will vote.

DDT, it is becoming apparent to me that you are just a crowd heckler (3200 posts aren’t enough?). How can you possibly speak of your love for Reagan AND Obama in the same breath? They are OPPOSITES! You say you are a registered Republican but you speak liberalese can you please clarify your loyalties? Is it just a southern California thing or what?

It's called "BI PARTISON SUPPORT".........You heard that before??????????? :hysterical:

Veto proof was the reason?

WASHINGTON, Nov. 12 (Reuters) - President Clinton signed into law today a sweeping overhaul of Depression-era banking laws. The measure lifts barriers in the industry and allows banks, securities firms and insurance companies to merge and sell each other’s products.

“This legislation is truly historic,” President Clinton told a packed audience of lawmakers and top financial regulators. “We have done right by the American people.”

The bill repeals parts of the 1933 Glass-Steagall Act and the 1956 Bank Holding Company Act to level the domestic playing field for United States financial companies and allow them to compete better in the evolving global financial marketplace.

The Senate approved the final bill by 90 to 8. The House did the same by a vote of 362 to 57. With that many democrats on board, it probably was "veto proof" :)

Read it again... our economy boomed under Clinton becuase they enforced the following. Under the Bush II Administration

our economy tanked because they failed to adhere/enforce protective clauses Clinton had put into place and backed by Democrats.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_America...Trade_Agreement

"Prior to sending it to the House of Representatives, Clinton introduced clauses which would hopefully provide protections for American workers while placating concerns held by many of the House representatives. It also required U.S. partners to adhere to environmental practices and regulations similar to its own. Being able to enforce these clauses, especially with Mexico, was considered questionable, and with much consternation and emotional discussion The House of Representatives approved NAFTA on November 17, 1993, by a vote of 234 to 200. Remarkably the agreement's supporters included 132 Republicans and only 102 Democrats."

Your position is another example of half-truths and more cherry picking...

I’ve heard of it just not seen it as of yet in this administration!

If I didn't KNOW you were joking, I would say voting for an ultra Conservative candidate then an ultra Liberal one illustrates confusion not bipartisanship.

Oh, I forgot you didn’t even vote you just enjoy heckling the conversation!

But it is true that Ronald Reagan was one of our best Presidents and inspired a majority

of Americans to succeed and help the USA be #1 in the World............

Although the majority of members here would disagree; I believe President Obama can

also motivate Americans to succeed through these tough times...........

So Reagan and Obama with differant Political Views and Policies??????? Yes......

Both Intelegent and Inspirational?????????..........................................Yes......

Moderation is a good thing as it strikes a balance.

I too liked Reagan... not only was he extremely animated, he did the most to of any President to build up

a strong military while substantially increasing servicemen's pay and benefits.

To this day it still brings a smile to my face when I invision him saying one of is most

famous cliches'... "There You Go Again...."

I truly believe his intentions for NAFTA, Free Trade and Globalization were based on enforcing Trade Tariffs and Embargos.

OK, what's the answer?

So what you're saying is: “it's not WHAT they say but HOW they say it”?

I don't know what the future will hold, I pine for the success of our country but not the success of liberalism/socialism and no I didn't have to steal that from Rush Limbaugh as we just happen to share mostly the same ideals.

We DO agree on Reagan but HIS success was based on traditional conservative values/strategies and beliefs that he STUCK TO. I remember back then the Libs called it "Reaganomics" (until it was PROVEN to work of course). What else has been proven is that Obama's current strategy has NOT worked in the past but I am willing to give him a chance (kinda don’t have a choice at this point) after all he is OUR president but he has not impressed me yet with what he has done in 52 days and I do realize that Congress has a hand in this as well.

"Reaganomics" worked well during his 8 years as President............

However the ""TRICKLE DOWN THEORY" Definately did not work over the last

nine years and I believe has greatly contributed to our society's demise as we

see it today..............Different time/circumstances, call for different actions???????????

I know that's a popular talking point but the "demise" was noticed when.... 2007-2008? Is it just a kawinkidink that the new Democrat majority took power at that time? OK, there may be a lot of blame to go around and you could argue till the cows come home when it “really” started but the economy was doing well up until that point then housing situation and gas prices arrived. It hasn't been the last "9" years it's been the last 2 years. Really think about it how was your 401K/IRA's doing back in say, 2002-2006 and how did YOU (not the liberal media) perceive the economy at that time? I’m just saying.

You have told half the story. Sadly. Yes the market and economy (separate) did improve under Klinton. However it did not in the first few years with his taxes. It only improved after 1995 when the Republican controlled congress brought forth more fiscal responsibility, the contract with America, welfare reform, etc. Why did you fail to mention?

And Bush inherited the Klinton economy when it started to fail. Just the facts, the Dow hit its high in 2000, before the election and then started dropping sharply. The Nasdaq hit a high of approx 5,050 in early 2000, and started dropping sharply. Bush inherited a market that had fallen precipitiously. Then came 9-11. And its effect on the market. But Bush cut taxes and brought in more taxes to the government than did Klinton. Those are the facts that socialists conviently seem to forget. You don't raise taxes in a downturn as obama is poised to do. This country was founded upon, and flourished, under capitalism, not communism.

So what would you percieve as the remedy? I didn't think voting for a man that wants to lower our class to the needy was the answer. Again, I'm hoping for the best but it feels like hoping for the best is like playing Russian roulette and hoping for the best.

The last data available is for 2006.

The top 1 percent of tax returns paid 39.9 percent of all federal individual income taxes and earned 22.1 percent of adjusted gross income.

An income of $388,806 puts you in the top 1%. I doubt those folks control over half the country.

I suppose I could search it out, but then I never was one for class warfare. That would probably be why in 40 years of voting, I can proudly state I have never voted for a democrat.

Those who are into such things should be pretty happy if they think the top 1% own 50% of the country since it appears whatever they own is probably worth 40% less than six months ago.

Are we thinking that is the plan?

And that is the mother of all IF's.

I’m not saying he's not physically or mentally capable of it but the best prediction of the future is to look at the past...Obama's past, the most liberal senator we had, to the left of Ted Kennedy for crying out loud. Do YOU really think that George W was so bad that we had to punish those of his party and our country to such a degree as to go as far in the other direction as we could to find remedy?

Do YOU really think that Obama was elected because he was the most qualified, the most capable, the most experienced or for that matter the most eloquent? No and I can say this without any degree of bigotry or intolerance, it was because he was the most, liberal, the most left, the most swooned after and yes the most black. Is that now the best way for us to choose our elected officials? This is what Liberalism has done for our country. I’m not questioning anyone’s patriotism just their motives.

As far as the middle class goes, are you middle class? How bad off were you from2002-2006? Everyone wants to talk about how bad “Bush screwed this country up for 8 years” but did you notice it wasn’t until Obama was “selected” as the Democrat front runner that you heard it? You know why they felt that way? Because the Liberal media told them to feel that way. I don’t mean to patronize you and I’m not even talking about you it just worries me that we elected the wrong man for the wrong reasons at the worst time.
