Maybe we should be more concerned about what is happening right now than what "could" have been in the past. We are loosing oour rights daily. Im sure OB would be happy if we didnt pay attention.

Wow, surprised not one post on today's news about how the Bush Administration seriously looked to take away so many of our fundamental freedoms all in the name of the "War on Terror".

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090302/ap_on_...pe/terror_memos

But what fun would that be right?!?

1. The link goes to nowhere.

2. You're correct. Under the Bush admin. our freedoms were chipped away in large chunks and that bothered me greatly. Our freedoms were sacrificed under the guise of security. In a lot of avenues the Patriot Act was down right disgusting.

Ok. Find a paper sack, place it over your nose and mouth and breathe deeply. I know I'm agreeing with you but it's not the end of the world! :hysterical:

I hope we are NOT going to have FOUR more years of "Its Bushs Fault"!!!

That's all they have. In 4 years they will say "the one" hasn't had enough time for his policies to work and they will re-elect him regardless of the economy or what's going on in the world. Hopefully by then Bobby Jindal will have learned to swing his arms when he walks and will be "hip" enough to get elected.

People are so polarized when it comes to politics...they make you a friend by creating a common enemy.

The reality is Republican or Democrat, they equally suck and neither have the "people's" interest in mind in anything they do. They do nothing for people, they only work for votes...meanwhile, they line their own pockets with the lobbyists perks and gifts. Oh, and the six or seven figure job waiting for them if they do get ousted for all the favors they provided.

You guys get worked up over BS like which president will take away more from us...answer is D. All of the above

End of story and debate...

Those of you who blindly follow a party miss the whole point...CHOOSING a good PERSON....the ideals any candidate have are irrelevant as is the party they are attached to. ( i could say the are like a--h-les....everyone has them and they all stink, but Im not tacky like that)

The Republican Senator who gets busted in an airport bathroom? Wouldn't you expect a Democrat to do that if it is going to happen? These people run on whatever party platform they can get on...they just want an easy way to make money for the most part....

Frickin Sheep leading Sheep....Blind leading the Blind...meanwhile they have all of us thinking and tricked into beleiving there are 2 SIDES battling for your hard earned money. In another few years...there wont be any money to fight over left...so there...that's all I got to say about that...

It is funny as hell to see you guys get worked up over politics though :hysterical:

You sound more worked up than anyone else, to me.

I think it's important to take a stand, whatever that stand is. To say "none of the above" abrogates yourself from any input to make changes and frees one from responsibility. Take a stand, push for changes that you believe in!

The "heated" debates we have here, between similar people with widely ranging viewpoints, is precisely the way to determine governance, IMHO.

I think that's the American way.

How DARE the President protect us from another attack!!!

Mr. Obama and his comrades are doing all they can to undermine our national security.

They better hope their lickspittle media minions can protect them from an outraged citizenry should we suffer another attack.

I agree to a large extent. But, this President is leading us down a socialist path. You pay for your neighbors house, his medical expenses, even if that neighbor is not a citizen of this country. He is now having Putin tell us how our foreign policy should look. This is change alright. And your retirement, forget it. This administration has done damage beyond anything I could think they could do in such a short time.

I dont think I can be worked up and abrogate at the same time, but you miss my point...both parties comprimise their platforms, hence, vote for the person, not the party. Having to choose one party over the other if you dont like them both isnt input, its subjegation. I support specific people, not their parties since neither represent my political views....I would put myself on the almost no govt side...which is not reflected in any party...

I think that since we are a 2 party system, your choices are limited. We all need to make 1 selection on election day, and we pick who we think most closely mirrors our own thinking. That's the way it is, so we are all commited to this play.

By not picking, saying "none of the above", you relinquish any input at all...

If you are for almost no govt, (me too) I think the party of choice would be pretty clear.

It's only a 2 party system because the 2 parties say it is.

There is plenty of room in this country for multiple political parties. We the people just need to demand it and work for it.

IMO, we have the Republicans and the Republican-lites. Less bitter but less filling. ;)

It's time for a real choice in our national debate.

Well said...its not in the constitution that we can only have 2 parties....but Dan, I dont completely disagree with you either...

I never said I dont vote...I merely said neither party candidate carries my views...but what else is new...

Jeff, every president has contingency plans for emergencies. They are part of planning. You would be shocked by some of the plans for national security in the event of a biological attack. Draconaian? Yes, but necessary if the country is to survive. None of these issues you raised were put in place but they did evaluate to see if they could and should be done in the event of an emergency. That is what real leaders do. When the foo hits the fan there is already a contingency plan of response. It would be nice to live in a world where such plans are not necessary but when you deal with extremists you have to have a plan to save the country.

Not that the Klinton administration violated any rights, oh yeah, there was WACO, Ruby Ridge, Elian Gonzales and a host of others. There was the attacks on the second amendment.

Bush was not perfect, especially with the economy. But I thank God he was POTUS when 9/11 occurred. I am reminded of how Klinton would respond to attacks by sending a few cruise missles and then beating on his chest and proclaiming how he taught them a lesson. When asked after 9-11 what he would do Bush reportedly said I will tell you what I will not do. I won't send a million dollar missle half way around the world to fly into a 10.00 tent in the desert and hit a camel in the ass. Remember Afghanistan and the Taliban that defeated Mother Russia. They didn't beat the US. God Bless President Bush for protecting this country. That is his first duty. Obama seems to think his first duty is to socialize the country. And socialism is just communism with a graduate degree!

Do you really believe you lost any rights when Bush was president? Did anyone kick your door in the middle of the night and haul you off never to be seen again? The NSA and others only listen in on those that are a threat to the country. Now the democrats, on the other hand, want to invoke the fairness doctrine and take away your first amendment rights. But I guess that is ok because they are democrats.

Not so fast. The jury is still out on that one - according to reports from the military. Bush made a real big mistake by going into Iraq before finishing in Afghanistan.
