Anybody catch the Hannity interview with Rush? Unbelievable. To hear Hannity talk about how Obama is reversing our "success" with Bush policy. What a riot! Rush wants to see Obama fail - and thinks all of those on the right who wish Obama well and to succeed are "caving".

 

If there was ever an argument to the world that capitalism is a failure and that they'd be better off with socialism - it was the Bush policy of an uncontrolled, unregulated, free-market. We now have the answer to the question - "what will happen when the market is let to do as it will?" The world is being brought to its knees because of these ill-conceived fiscal policies. It will be a Democratic Obama administration that will SAVE capitalism for the world. Can you see the irony? A Republican administration is responsible for almost the very demise of capitalism - and it will be a Democrat that will save it. We're not heading towards socialism - we're preventing the world from going there.

Here's a little more to chew on. We have the freedom of speech in this country. Though one can't cry "fire" in a theatre, or incite a riot, and not be prosecuted. Collectively, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, the right wing blogosphere, and simply Fox News in general yell "fire" all day long. They spew fear mongering 24x7x365. I think they should all be called to task and prosecuted for inciting fear in their viewing public.

 

The "liberal media" as so-called by the right, is a misnomer. CNN, NBC, CBS, etc. are simply the media. The mainstream media. The trusted media. I did not read the Dick Morris article but have listened to him in the past. For those now attacking Dick Morris they should remember that he was a life long democrat. He helped Bill and Hillary through numerous campaigns in Arkansas and the presidency. Yes he did convert to being a conservative and, in his own words, for two reasons. #1 was 9/11. #2- he is Jewish. He stated he realized what would happen to all Jews after 9/11 if we did not respond as we did. For that reason he supported President Bush and Sen. McCain. Before attacking Dick Morris why not wait and see how many of his predictions become true?

Saying that capitalism is a failure is like saying "I wrecked my Corvette, so Chevrolet is a failure". There was a failure of the schmucks on Wall street and in the banking system to exercise common sense and restraint. That does not mean that capitalism is a failure. Capitalism is what made this country great and it is the ONLY thing that has any chance of rescuing us from the current mess we are in. The government can not do it. They simply do not have the intelligence or the common sense as can easily be seen by looking at the new proposed "stimulus" package and all the non productive pork contained therein. Our quick slide into Socialism is what will ultimately destroy this country which is what the dear leader means when he talks about change. He is talking about destroying our capitalist system and replacing it with socialism. He chooses his words carefully and is intentionally vague so that the simpletons (that's you and me) don't catch on until it's too late, but that IS the agenda. Of course the Liberals will just say it isn't so and that we have been watching Rush Limbaugh too much and that we are brainwashed etc. etc. I for one have never once watched Rush Limbaugh.

Incorrect - look at the root cause of our problems. All of this started with the Democratic party principles of giving loans (credit and mortgages) to people that were not truly qualified, with the belief that everyone must have the same things whether truly earned, eligible, or not... Look at Afirmative Action, Freddie Mac, Fanny Mae and out-of-control Union (who are major Dem. party supporters) wages and benefits and you have the real causes of the problems were facing.

 

Now, here we go again - more extreme liberal government intervention and control of our country, taxpayers and economy is blossoming once again at the hands of Obama. This is going to be a "fun" ride. Our children and grandchildren will be paying the price for all these bailouts for years and years.

Dems are for the poor and lazy that don't want to work, not the working middle class, like perhaps they use to be many years ago. They buy votes with government handouts to try to keep themselves in power. Republicans are just as fckd up in different ways.

 

A few years ago i delivered brick to a new home under construction. The owner is a Democrat, who was running for governor of our state at the time. This house was very large and extravagant, easily a 3 to 5 million dollar house in a very upscale area. My house would have fit in the garage with room to spare. When i went inside there was a bunch of "non English speaking Mexicans" hanging drywall.

 

I am a Teamster and labor unions always back the Democrats. Needless to say that candidate didn't get my vote. I spread the word, and a lot of people that i know that usually vote Democrat got pi$$ed and didn't vote for this candidate either.

 

This instance makes my point, they are all self serving bastards and couldn't care less about you or me. All they want is our vote. Until you get the big money out of it, nothing is going to change. The day any politician takes office he is bought and paid for by his biggest campaign contributors, and that's the bottom line. I have voted Democrat, Republican, and Independent in my 56 years on this planet. I follow no party blindly. I am not a Republican nor a Democrat, i am an AMERICAN, and whats right is right and whats wrong is wrong.

IMHO, I disagree with your position that these threads do not accomplish anything but discord. Limiting what you talk about also limits what you are able to learn about/from someone else. I value being able to read what another member thinks, (or doesn't think), when they post. It would be arrogant/narrow-minded of me to think that I am right all of the time, so I like to hear differing opinions as long as they are posted in a respectful manner. Therein lies the problem for some members. Some members are incapable of either defending their thought processes or clearly stating them, so they resort to insulting behavior.
