Blower Alternative

Shop around and you can get a good price on the Saleen Series VI blower (what I am running)

Everything is similar to the Roush and if installed by qualified Saleen dealer/tech, they will honor the warranty.

A warning though - the way Saleen and Roush warranty their vehicles also is because of their tune - besides low boost level (which is not necessarily bad - see below) they leave alot of the spanish oak programming intact - ie, throttle lag. A quick deal with an aftermarket tuner like JDM engineering out of Jersey (experts with the Saleen) and that hesitation goes bye-bye.

No dyno yet but with the set-up I am running, still the stock Saleen pulley, I am making 4 lbs of boost and should be at about 400/415 at the flywheel. And 4lbs is the basic bottom - I can up to 5.5, 7.5, 10 etc...... with a simple pulley swap.

The Saleen (as does the Roush) has a bypass system that when just cruising on the street in general driving, you have no need to build boost so you don't - less stress and heat buildup on the engine. Lean on the throttle and you will crack the boost open, no prob. Seriously, in normal everyday driving (ie - leaving a stoplight like I am Joe-civilian :hysterical: and not hurrying to work), you would be hard pressed to know I am running a blower.

Cheapest I've seen that blower is $4399. Burke, do you have an inside line on a better price?

Last time I checked I THINK Texas Hot Rods had a good price - I also think they will match or beat if you can do better than their price....

Actually you want a deal? HERE'S a deal

http://www.teamjdm.com/shop/product_info.php?products_id=212

JDMs stage 1 kit marked down to $5,695.00

(WOW that''s good....)

You get EVERYTHING you need including a GREAT tune from Ford specialists who know the Series VI inside and out (look on Modular Fords forum and see how many guys are running their set-ups)

Great customer service too.

Take that price, minus $350.00 for the Xcal II, and $400 for the injectors, right there that leaves you at $4,945.00 - subtract couple hundred for the new MAF and the airbox, and say you are left with $4695.00.

That is a great price for that blower. (better than I paid actually - and if you were to buy from Saleen or other places, you are looking at 5,300+ I believe)

Also remember most places will sell you what Saleen sells you - the blower and intercooler hardware and that's it. You don't get injectors, you use the stock MAF and the stock airbox. AND you have to send your CPU to them to flash it. JDM will send you the tune already loaded into the X Cal.

Only problem with boost is it's worse than crack (not that I have personal experience with that). Once you get a taste of the power with 4lbs you want more. Then the 4lbs turns to 6lbs, then 8lbs and soon your at the point where you need that forged bottom end. So why put off the unavoidable and just build the bottom end from the get go. :hysterical::hysterical::hysterical:

You're not kidding. My 89 GT did that to me. At first I just wanted to get in to the low 13's. After I went 13's, I thought, heck, 12's are so close. Did 12's, saw the 11's light at the end of the tunnel - tried to go 11's, broke motor. Not going to let that stop me, I'm determined now, throw everything at it (bank account, refi car). had a bad-ass 10 second machine. Got out of the Navy, needed rent money, everything else that comes with "real" life, sold car.

Point taken. I drove Orf's Shelby on Sat. It was a rush - but I wonder how long it would take until I'd need "more!"

About a month.

Uh-huh. I said "low interest - long term" :hysterical:

I know some similar folks in CT - they're in the concrete business.

Concrete isn't a bad business to be in. Most of my customers are in the concrete business.
