The wait is over...finally!

The call came in from the GSM at around 9 AM yesterday morning... "HAPPY BIRTHDAY!". It's here... and only five days late! :happy feet: Car will be ready for pick up by 3 PM.

I got to see this car, so after we grab some lunch, we stop at the dealership to get a sneak peek. Car is in the "recon" room being prepped. The GSM escorts us in and I get my first up close and personal look at the new car, along with all the guys from the shop lunch room who heard the car had arrived. Can you say... "SCHWING!" Pics on these forums just do not do justice for seeing this car in person.

I then make a mad dash home to call the insurance agent and get everything else I need for the big transaction. Back to the dealership at 2:15. That sucking sound heard around 2:30 was my bank account shrinking big time! Oh well... Carpe Diem!

Anyways... the deal is done. I put about 80 miles on the car yesterday evening. First impression - Oh my god! It was worth the wait! The new pony is now resting in the stable with it's big brother (66 Coupe). Hopefully the two ponies will get along well together...

Pics attached...

Actually, I am from Vestal, NY (near Binghamton). However, my brother and his family live in Belmore. So, it is very likely that my Shelby will make the trek down through the Delaware Water Gap, over the GW bridge, across the Cross Bronx expressway, over the Throggs Neck bridge, down the Cross Island expressway and finally out the Southern State parkway. Suppose they would close that route just for me? :hysterical2:

As far as I know at this point, there are only two GT500's that have come into this area: mine and a red/white car that is now up in Cortland, NY (hour north of Binghamton on I-81). A couple of guys I know from the Cortland All Ford/Mustang club have seen that car driving around the area up there.

Also, I have custom plates reserved which match my forum handle -- 2K7GT500. I will be able to order them as soon as my permanent registration comes in the snail mail from the DMV.

Thanks all and happy motoring!
