Rick Mosley
This may be a bit off topic but I know Steve is into a lot of collectibles and may be able to shed some light on this piece. I bought this a few years ago and forgot about it till the other day while reading a post about old issue Matchbox cars. I was told it was given out at a dealer meeting when the Daytona and Caravan were due to launch. It's defiantly an odd piece of Iacocca history. Rick Can't say I recall ever seeing one of those before. I agree with it probably being given out at a dealer meeting/new car intro conference. IIRC it was Matchbox that sold those cars. There possibly is a date cast into the bottom of the cars but most likely its from late 1983 or early 1984 as that's when the Daytona & Caravan came to market. It's something different thats for sure. Steve
Rick Mosley
Steve, I'll look tonight at the date on the cars. IIRC they are both Matchbox cars. I believe I have the exact Daytona in a blister package as well with a "scratch to win a new daytona" promo gamepiece...I'll do some diggin'

Rick Mosley
I found this info for the Daytona: Version 00: A special "Limited Edition" of 5000 only was produced for the August 1983 Chrysler Convention in Las Vegas, Nevada. The hood on this model is cast with the body and does not open. No license plate number is cast. The base is cast "1983 DODGE DAYTONA TURBO Z, LIMITED EDITION, MADE EXPRESSLY FOR DODGE, LAS VEGAS 1983, MADE IN ENGLAND". Each model was packed in a special limited edition closed cardboard box.
