RUFDRAFT
Christine seems up for it - so we're going to go visit mom and take her for a spin in the Rufstang ("What kind of car is this, Bryan?!") Then we'll stop by Stangbanger's crib and check out his Z06 rims. He's lending me a tool to take off the clips on the hood insulation. See y'all later this afternoon. carnut
More food for garage discussion; Long ago and far away, In a land that time forgot, Before the days of Dylan, Or the dawn of Camelot. There lived a race of innocents, And they were you and me, Long ago and far away In the Land That Made Me Me. Oh, there was truth and goodness In that land where we were born, Where navels were for oranges, And Peyton Place was porn. For Ike was in the White House, And Hoss was on TV, And God was in His heaven In the Land That Made Me Me. We learned to gut a muffler, We washed our hair at dawn, We spread our crinolines to dry In circles on the lawn. And they could hear us coming All the way to Tennessee, All starched and sprayed and rumbling in the Land That Made Me Me. We longed for love and romance, And waited for the prince, And Eddie Fisher married Liz, And no one's seen him since. We danced to "Little Darlin'", And Sang to "Stagger Lee" And cried for Buddy Holly In the Land That Made Me Me. Only girls wore earrings then, And three was one too many, And only boys wore flat-top cuts, Except for Jean McKinney. And only in our wildest dreams Did we expect to see A boy named George, with Lipstick In the Land That Made Me Me. We fell for Frankie Avalon, Annette was, oh, so nice, And when they made a movie, They never made it twice. We didn't have a Star Trek Five, Or Psycho Two and Three, Or Rockey-Rambo Twenty In the Land That Made Me Me. Miss Kitty had a heart of gold, And Chester had a limp, And Reagan was a Democrat Whose co-star was a chimp. We had a Mr Wizard, But not a Mr T, And Oprah couldn't talk, yet In the Land That Made Me Me. We had our share of heroes, We never thought they'd go, At least not Bobby Darin, Or Marilyn Monroe. For youth was still eternal, And life was yet to be, And Elvis was forever, In the Land That Made Me Me. We'd never seen the rock band That was Grateful to be Dead, And Airplanes weren't named Jefferson, And Zeppelins weren't Led. And Beatles lived in gardens then, And Monkees in a tree, Madonna was a virgin In the Land That Made Me Me. We'd never heard of Microwaves, And "gay" meant fancy-free, And dorms were never coed In the Land That Made Me Me. We hadn't seen enough of jets To talk about the lag, And microchips were what was left at The bottom of the bag. And Hardware was a box of nails, And bytes came from a flea, And rocket ships were fiction In the Land That Made Me Me. Buicks came with portholes, And side show came with freaks, And bathing suits came big enough To cover both your cheeks. And Coke came just in bottles, And skirts came to the knee, And Castro came to power In the Land That Made Me Me. We had no Crest with Fluoride, We had no Hill Street Blues, We all wore superstructure bras Designed by Howard Hughes. We had no patterned pantyhose Or Lipton herbal tea Or prime-time ads for condoms In the Land That Made Me Me. There were no golden arches, No Perriers to chill, And fish were not called Wanda, And cats were not called Bill. And middle-aged was thirty-five And old was forty-three, And ancient was our parents In the Land That Made Me Me. But all things have a season, Or so we've heard them say, And now instead of Maybelline We swear by Retin-A. And they send us invitations To join AARP, We've come a long way, baby, From the Land That Made Me Me. So now we face a brave new world In slightly larger jeans, And wonder why they're using Smaller print in magazines. And we tell our children's children of the way it used to be, Long ago, and far away In the Land That Made Me Me.

RUFDRAFT
I didn't say I didn't LIKE it when he did that - but wifey didn't. She threatened to hot tub with Co-Pilot. I told her she should. I could use more video! Gonna drive up to Elizabeth City NC tomorrow (about 90 mins) for a cruise-in with my Chrome Pony Mustang Club buds. I've invited Snoop to join us. Weather looks real good - lower 80's. Right now the heat index is about 110.

RUFDRAFT
This is becoming the Twilight Zone Thread..... Hood insulation comes off tomorrow!! Maybe the increase in engine sound will prevent me from hearing what Christine has to say while I'm driving. :happy feet: We'll be driving along, and she'll just say, "Look!" Pause...and after I do a quick scan, I'll say, "Look at WHAT?" I'm on a roll here. Two more things. She can't leave the temp control alone. Too hot. Too cold. Too hot. Too cold. And she can't understand how I can drive without the stereo on. "How can you do that?" "I'm thinking" "About what?" "Oh, just organizing my thoughts." "That's weird." StangBanger
Hey Gangsta Ruf you got the Rufstang cleaned up and ready to go to the show tomorrow? Have you removed the hood liner yet? I hope the tool helps. I also see you added my picture of the Rufstang to your signature. You know that you are using a copyrighted photograph don't you. 68fastback
Good idea. Not going to work. I think its a DNA thing. I think you're right! Wifey does the same thing: Oh look! (Where?) There! (Where's there?) Nevermind, you missed it! () SB, if it wasn't for the unmistakable Rufstang-II wheels and sidestripe, I'd have thought that pic was taken at a used car lot -- banner flags in the background, hood open -- figured it was a big sale day at the Saturn dealership or something ;-) Have fun in Elizabethtown tomorrow: two trophys, ya hear (one each!)!! RUFDRAFT
Hey, y'all. SB got the Gangsta Ruf from when I told him how many "Boys in the 'Hood" have been giving me Street Cred's! Apparently, the Rufstang looks like some sort of Gangsta Ride! (I need to see if I can lease it out for a Rap video...) Thanks for the pry tool, SB. I'm going to use it in the morning as I prep for the Elizabeth City cruise-in. I used your pic in my sig? I thought when you emailed it to me that implied consent? I'll have my attorney call you on Monday. And you know my attorney! I've been keeping him busy. Dan - I was at the Nissan Store and you know it! Seriously, I think women just have different riding/driving habits than we do. They can't bear to ride in peace. They can't ever get comfortable. They can't leave one radio station on. They can't realize they need to not bend over and mess with their purses while you're backing up. They can't go more than 45 minutes without having to use a bathroom. They can't spend less than 15 minutes in a bathroom. They can't decide what to order in a drive-thru even though thev've been through that drive-thru 50 times. But - we love them just the same! carnut
Last night I went to the local car show. Had a good time but my good time was made better with the company I was around. Now, these cars are reproductions but just the same it awesome. On one side of me was a GT40 and the other side was a Daytona Coupe, on each side of them were Cobra Roadsters and other Mustangs, 428 CJ's. Now some of may not think of these reproductions but they are very well done, as authentic as practical and still very expensive. The GT40 cost well over 100K to build and the Daytona Coupe was near the same. There are only 6 real Daytona Coupes in the world and to see a well done reproduction was inspiring. The GT 40 was and ERA kit that they claim you can take parts of it and they will fit on an original. The Weber carburetors were beautiful. Next week, I am taking my camera. Awesome! RUFDRAFT
Carnut - that sounds dreamy. I would have loved to hear them running! I had a very good time today with my Chrome Pony Chronies! We didn't do trophies - just a cruise-in. Had about 50 Stangs and a few odd ones. (A very cherry '49 Merc painted a deep red Merlot!) Snoop - about 10 members of your club came down. A couple of them were talking smack about the "Shelby" guys in the club....and 3 Red/White Shelby's showed up. On the way up and back, I had 3 or 4 people come up on me and just hang on my left rear for miles....I can't understand that. They just rode and rode and rode without passing. After a while, I downshifted and got away from them. Strange. Dan - "Saturn Dealer"
