0% GT500 Financing Commercial

Recommended Posts

I seen a commercial from ford announcing 0% financing for 60 Months on all Ford Mustangs and the first car to drive by in a line of Mustangs in the commercial was a Shelby GT500. I thought to myself, Nooo Way! So I went to the ford website and investigated and seen: Excludes Shelby GT, Shelby GT 500 and GT Bullitt. in the offer.

So my question is WHAT THE HELL was the GT500 doing in that commercial then!

Are you sure the commercial said "ALL" Ford Mustang? Or did it just say....0% financing on Ford Mustang?

As for seeing a GT500 in the commercial, it is no different than seeing a loaded up top of the line model on a vehicle they are offering a low lease payment on which the vehicle that gets you that low payment is the base model that has little to no options on it.

I don't agree with that type of advertising and admit that I think it is misleading, but that is what they do.

BTW, they probably had small print at the bottom of the commercial that discloses everything but most people don't see that and even if they do see it they can't read it fast enough to know what it says! You would have to be recording the thing so you can play it back and put the recorder on pause just to be able to read the fine print!

I got a coupon from Ford for $750 off my next car purchase that had the GT500 on it, and the dealership refused to honor it. When I called FoMoCo marketing about it they told me that dealers are not bound to any special. Nice...

Those are private offers from Ford and have nothing to do with the dealership. Ford pays that just the same as a rebate from Ford.

Those offers do not include Shelby's. So Ford would not honor it nor would they pay the dealership back if the dealer was to accept it.

Here are the vehicles you can use it on:

Ford Motor Company will periodically audit dealer records to ensure compliance with incentive programs and amounts paid to the dealers. As the dealership is responsible for providing proof of eligibility, the dealership must retain photo copies of all required supporting documentation in the sales jacket. These documents and related records, including journal and ledgers that relate in any way, in all or in part, to vehicle sales claim transactions must be retained for at least two years. This includes proof of transfer and copy of original finance contract showing co-signer for eligibility. Failure to retain such documents will result in payment reversals.

I would bet that the annual labor day sale will havE 0% on gt500s

How much would you like to bet?

I bet they don't!

There are not enough around to justify offering that. Less than 50% of dealerships have one to sell. So with over 50% not having any, what reason would Ford have for offering it? Especially when dealers are still getting top dollar for them and some still getting ADM's?

Do you think Ford cares about offering discounts on their end just so dealers can continue to get premiums?

It ain't gonna happen!

Now IF they had 10's of thousands sitting and dealers were having a problem giving them away with steep discounts then you might see incentives. This is not the case and far from it. There are less than 50% of the dealers that even have any to sell and many of those have more than one. Most dealers don't have any to sell.

You don't think it's deceiving to show a picture of a red GT500 on it?

I think it's misleading. Same when they run commercials for a lease and they show a top of the line model fully loaded up but the advertised lease payment is for the base bare bones model!

I've complained about it, but it doesn't do any good.

I think they should advertise the payments based on the fully loaded models then if a customer wants one with less options or a base model the payments will be even lower! But that isn't what they are selling. They are selling money by advertising the cheapest payments while showing the nicest models on TV which makes the vehicle look better.

It's all about generating traffic to the dealerships. Of course I haven't seen it ever work very well in the 6 years I've been here! But what do I know? I'm just the guy on the front line that hears what customers want. Ford has all the young college grad bean counters fresh out of college that are much smarter than we are they know better what customers want then the customers themselves do! :hysterical:

ShelbyDude for CEO! I can fix it! :superhero:

I got my 07 Gt500 for 3 years and 0% back in july of 07. It was a small 3 week window and then it was gone. So it might very well happen. Some dealers were telling me no way so I refered them to the website.

Me too. We got a special deal that likely won't be repeated unless lots of '09s sit around a while.

I also got the $500 college student discount... good to be going for my MBA at the time!

I got my car on the last day of the July 07 36 month financing. Sure my payments are high but I figure I can refinace if I need to and I still have not needed to yet.

Plus I got a Tungsten so that deal will never be available again for a Tungsten gt500. :happy feet:
