Alan Hi Alan, I dont recall seeing a post / PM from you but i'm in Ont, CANADA! not CA (california) so yeah West Coast is just a bit too far for my liking.... Even if i can drive back it just doesnt fit my schedule too well to make that trip at the moment. Thanks for the info though.

I hope all will be ok, it looks to be! Now about that VNT cal of ours.... Yay, Another Shelby in Canada! I just bought 1987 GLHS #0075 and am in Calgary. I'm waiting for the -29 C temp and 4 cm of snow to go away so that I can enjoy a drive that's longer than around the block. I still need an out of province inspection and an appraissal done so I can appease my insurrance company and get it registered.

Just FYI, if you bought the car in the US you can use the customs declaration receipt as an appraisal at the ministry of transportation, at least thats how it works in Ontario. agvs24
Very Nice. Does it have a Forward Motion motor? No... apparently the transmission was rebuild by Forward Motion a couple years ago. The previous owner must've liked to advertise. Besides the engine bay sticker, there is also HUGE "FORWARD MOTION" across the top of the back window in the same gold font as the CSX decals. Doesnt look too bad but i'm not one for big advertisements like that so it'll be coming off soon.
CSX-VNT #414
Good deal Chris! Glad to see you found one finally. As for information< I can tell you that back when I bought my CSX on June 6, 2007, I received a phone call (en route while towing my CSX home) from a buddy of mine who's real big on Ford Focus' asking me if I'd be interested in an 89 CSX out in eastern PA, #91, as it was being put up for sale by a friend of his also into the Focus scene. Turns out it was this one and compared to the one I brought home, the one you got has so much going for it! hahhaa... So anyways, basically just wanted to tell you it had a stay here in PA for some time before being sold to the guy you bought it from in Florida. Again, congrats! There were some receipts that came with some of the original documentation of the car that also confirms its life in PA. The car was originally shipped to Lancaster Dodge in Lancaster PA on 6/2/89.(Thanks Barry!). It went on to have what looks to be 3 owners in PA before heading to FL last year. It's life in PA was not a smooth one... at some point it was hit in the right side so the passenger door and rocker have been replaced but other than that it is in very good condition. I believe i am the 5th owner of this car.
agvs24
I just noticed a couple things on this car... There are two (2) "third" brake lights. One under the wing on the back and one in the back window. Is this right? Also underhood i have the vacuum routing diagram on the inside of the hood but wasnt there also the emissions label supposed to be on the rad support? Or did they combine them into one decal for 1989? Thanks

Or did they combine them into one decal for 1989? Thanks I'm pretty sure there should be an emissions decal on the radiator core support. GLHS069 makes repros of the emissions decals and I have seen a pic of his 89 CSX vacuum routing decal on t-m, but I'm not sure if he does the strip decal that goes on the core support. shelbymotorsports
There are two (2) "third" brake lights. One under the wing on the back and one in the back window. Is this right? Yes that is correct. When the Whittier plant added the rear wing spoiler NHTSA decided it was blocking the factory Chrysler 3rd brake light mounting on the hatchback. So Shelby added the additional 3rd brake light (well I guess we could call it the 4th brake light) to the rear wing. This rear wing light was tapped into the factory 3rd brake light wiring. Steve PS- On a related note the supplier of the rear wing spoiler, Kaminari Inc, also produced an almost identical rear wing for the aftermarket industry. This aftermarket wing was just like the Shelby wing except it had a strip of LED lights molded into the center of the wing to act as a 3rd brake light. CSX-VNT #414
Chris The vacuumd diagram on the hood is the only decal found in the engine bay. These cars did not have rad. support decals.

dgrun
Chris, that is a beautiful car. Mine is #232, had it since new. pretty ratty with 130.000 miles right now. had all the rust repaired. getting it ready for paint. I paid 12,000 bucks (it was a leftover from 89 when I bought it in 90 for 1/3 off) for this car new (with recaros) and have gotten quotes for 7500 and 8900 for painting here on LI (new york) recently. ughhhh. however, both these guys are restoration specialists and will do an awesome job, but its a lot of money, esp. for a teacher like me. it rusted along the sills and the spare tire well pretty much disappeared. can't wait to get it back in great shape like yours. don't tell me how much you paid for it, its probably less than my paint job is going to cost. this is a great site! can't believe I just found it. Dennis Welcome to the site! Good to hear another CSX is going to be saved. I've been enjoying this car since i bought it back in March... Probably a bit too much i've been driving it like everyday and it was supposed to be a weekend only vehicle. Having too much fun with it... I get a lot of people askign me questions about it when i'm out and around since its so rare. And yes, i'll keep the price to myself as not to cause you too much pain... Your car will be so much nicer when its done as my paint job is good from far but far from good... dgrun
Welcome Dennis. As a former Long Islander I feel you about the rust. One of the things I like about living down south is the lower amounts of rust. thanks Robert. yeah, rust is a pain. of course, I didn't notice for some time that the spare tire well was filling up with water in the winter. melted snow somehow got in there. eventually, it just pretty much disappeared. oh well. now that its repaired, I've got a whole bunch of rustproofing in there, and sealed up the rear lights better, apparently water gets in through them quite easily. seems to have cured the problem. this is a cool site.
