robertlane Posted May 23, 2008 Report Share Posted May 23, 2008 State police now riding Mustang GTs A posse of specially trained Indiana State Police troopers has been issued high-performance Ford Mustang muscle cars to keep the peace on Indiana highways. ISP showed off its new “Mustang Patrol” at a news conference Thursday. Advertisement The department has previously used the Chevrolet Camaro, a Mustang rival, as its unmarked highway enforcer. Bob Coulston, longtime member of the Mustang Club of Indianapolis, couldn’t be happier with the change. “I’m glad to hear that,” he said. “If I was to ever get stopped, I wouldn’t want to get stopped by a Camaro. I would want to get stopped by a Mustang.” State police officials say 18 of the cars will focus on what ISP calls “crash-causation” violations – which include speeding, impaired driving and improper passing.
