2008 Shelby GT500KR info released by Ford Media...

Ford media released this information April 28, 2008 (while TS Forum was down). Notice that in the first link below, the specifications shown and the specification in the link at the Ford Media site are not identical (e.g. coupe curb weight 3879 vs 3905). Since they also mention the KR is some 22 pounds lighter than the vanilla GT500, I'm not sure which is right ...probably just an error but since the specs in the first link below (showing 3879 lbs) is formatted differently than all the info in all other links bewlow, so maybe it's a corrected version and 3879 is correct (dunno).

I thought some other tidbits were interesting too: the CF hood is a highly engineered piece with multiple pressure-zones -- the product of extensive Ford computer modeling using computational fluid dynamics, etc -- even the hoodpins were specially designed aero pieces, as is the revised splitter. Speaking of which, one of the other links below mentions that even without the additional power, the KR is 0.4 seconds faster to 150 mph than the GT500 on aero refinements alone. Also, if I recall correctly, on the skidpad the KR recorded up to 1.0G -- pretty impressive, tho specifics of the pad-diameter, etc were not mentioned. Another subtlety: the rear sway bar on the KR is actually slightly softer tortionally than the stocker -- part of the extensive suspension and chassis mods and, if I recall from info published when the KR was first intro'd at NYIAS, the unique performance and suspension tuning of the KR includes different springs, dampers, and stabilizer bar (which are tubular) along with billet ends for reduced weight (don't recall if these briefs mention that).

The front brake cooling-duct pieces will not be installed and will ship (in the trunk) as a complete engineered kit, including flex-tubing, hub baffles, clamps, etc.

There's probably more goodies I've missed, so here's all the links Ford released today ...

Locator shows they have two Silver and both still show they are "in transit"

One is their car and one they bought from another dealer.

I wonder what they are wanting for theirs? I bet $150K +

They were offering $30K over MSRP about 6 - 7 months ago to buy any from other dealers.

Yeah, I figured they were just doing some early trolling. First units should start hitting the ground very soon, I would think ...depending on allocation.

It's just such a shame that the KR didn't get the TVS right from the factory. I wonder if the very-limited '09 might? :spiteful:
