Dealership Experiences

Recommended Posts

OK, since we totally HIGHJACKED the 09 GT500 order guide topick and there are people

here wanting to read about Dealer Experiences "Good or Bad", maybe post them here?

"BECAUSE IT WAS REQUESTED"

Here is test drive #3 without obtaining a reasonable sales price.

This was the Dealer that claimed "THE NEW GT500 IS ONLY ONE YEAR PRODUCTION 07 AND THEIR DONE".

In Feb. 07 I was contacted by Kathy from Sunset Ford in Westminister. She advised me the exact GT500

I am looking for (fully loaded red coupe white stripes) just offloaded from the car carrier with only 4 miles

on the odometer. She said hurry and get down here as there is a guy from Chicago landing at LAX with a

12 noon appt. to purchase the car. (ANOTHER BS SALES TACTIC). I asked her if they could keep it out of

the show room so I can test drive it and she said yes "thats why I am calling you". I was excited but tied

up at work and since I knew the Chicago Spill was BS, I was in no hurry.

I finally got their just before 2pm and of course the "Chicago Guy" did not materialize. The first salesman

I met said "Ya most customers are LIERS" when asked about the 12 noon appt. :hysterical:

Anyway I have all the respect for Kathy as she is a sweet gal but just caught up in this "ADM" thing like

a "PAWN IN AN EVIL GAME"??????

She showed me the car on the parking lot already cleaned and NO ADM STICKER. It was perfect, just

what I wanted with only 4 miles on the odometer. Asked her where is the keys and she handed them

to me and said lets go your driving. First time I got to drive one directly off the lot. Did not get crazy

with this test drive drive but still proud to break it in and see the boost come alive. :superhero: Only

drove surface streets and back to the dealer with 11 miles on the odometer.

I actually was getting excited thinking I could keep them from posting the "ADM" and purchase this

one for sticker????? After all it was the only price on the car and that is what I told Kathy that I see

no other price. She said OK let me talk to the Manager..........

Next thing I see about 5 minutes later is 3 guys emerging from the show room like KEYSTONE COPS

one holding an "ADM" and I stood between them and my car and said "IF YOU THINK YOUR GOING TO

POST THAT ON THIS CAR I WILL SLAP THE SNOT OUT OF YOU". :hysterical: Should have seen their

jaws drop, "PRICELESS". After a few minutes of verbal sparing I realized the lost cause and let the

crooks put the "FORTYFIVETHOUSANDDOLLAR" ADM on the window. That my friends is a

:hysterical3: "100%MARKUP"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DING DING DING :slapfight: Could not stop laughing at

them but had enough respect to thank Kathy for treating me so good.

And my Friends, the search continued................

Thank you for sharing your story.

Thank you;

See I can be nice???????

But remember this.

When I was told at the LA auto show in 06 by the Ford spokesman on the GT500

"You can purchase this car for under 50Grand", I was so excited that I could actually

afford this car and then the dissappointment seeing the "ADM"s made me more

determined to make my deal instead of walk away and forget it. It paid off......

And I also contacted Ford Corperate and this is a Quote from them;

"It is a free market and price is any amount agreeable between buyer and seller".

Notice they did not say anything about "YOU HAVE TO PAY THE MARKET PRICE".....

Some pay more some pay less but I chose to pay what I could afford the best way

I knew how and both me and my selling dealer feel good about the deal we made............ :happy feet:

Nice way to talk. Threating some one with physical harm for putting a sign on a car. :hysterical: If you think that is appropriate you have much bigger problems. I know a few people that if you said that to them and tried, it would be the last slap you ever gave. We might be reading your obituary instead of your story. And you talk like this around your child?

:backtotopic:

I ordered a 1998 Sable wagon from a family Dealership in Dutton, Ontario on the A-plan.( then spouses A plan). Traded in a 97 Escort. They gave me a very good price for the trade in at the time. ($4400.00). I deleted the moon roof on the wagon, a $1000.00 option.

Car came in with moon roof. Dealer apologized for his error, took the entire moon roof price w/tax and added it to the trade in. Gave me over 5500.00 for my car. He could not change the Sable price as it was A-plan. He also said if I did not want the moon roof they would order another vehicle for me. My choice. I took the Sable with the now free moon roof.

At about almost 3 years later the power steering and rack went. The vehicle had 95000 km. It was technically out of warranty. Dealer called Ford, Ford decided to split the costs with the dealership out of good faith and I was only charged $100.00. Ford and the dealership covered the rest. I did not have the extended warranty.

August 2004. I wanted a 40th Anniversary Crimson Red Mustang GT. There were only 3 like I wanted in Canada. One was 100 Km away. When we contacted the Dealership to purchase the vehicle the sales person called back to say he made a mistake. He was driving it on the weekend and had put the odometer to a little over 1000 km. Car can't be sold as new he says.

The sales person the contacted the dealership in Saskatchewan who had one. It had 30 kms on it. Then he had it shipped to Ontario for me and Ford agreed to the additional shipping costs and I did not have to pay for the extra shipping even though I agreed upfront to pay to have it shipped. Good manors get you a lot farther than threats. :happy feet:

Thats all I have to say about that!

Medved Ford in Castle Rock, CO:

Walked into the dealership and asked about the upcoming '07 Shelby GT500. After some negotiating, I got a commitment from them for $10K over MSRP, and I wrote them a $1,000 deposit check to secure my #4 place in line. A few weeks later, I get a call from them saying they were sending my deposit check back because they decided they could get a lot more than $10K over MSRP. What's the point of a deposit if the dealer isn't going to honor it?

I went around to some other local dealers and got laughed out of the showroom when I asked for a Shelby for $10K over MRSP. Got a lot of the typical, "They are only making 500 of these" and "You'll never find one for under $25K over MSRP."

I then emailed every other dealership in Colorado asking if anyone had a Shelby allocation. I got a call the next day from Town & Country Ford in Salida, CO. The guy says they had one Shelby allocation. I asked how much. He said $2K over MSRP to cover the SVT certification. I said "Sold! I'll see you in three hours with a deposit check." They never played any games, were always completely honest, and treated me like a valued customer. Greatest car buying experience ever! Thanks Billy!

2005 riding back with the owner from a Ford meeting. Owner says, "well I got that 500 HP mustang sold!" Promised it to a doctor.

Two years later the doc's car comes in. MSRP + $750 to cover half the $1,500 enrollment fee.

Never signed anything. Never took a deposit. Honored the deal on just his WORD! Even after being offered $20K over by more than 50 other dealers!

I got the same deal on our second car! :happy feet:

We bought ours at the local ford dealership. I had been bugging them about the car for two years before they started making them. I had been at SAAC Does Vegas and Shelby told us there would be a new Shelby Mustang, but he couldn't tell us much about it. I assumed I'd have to pay full MSRP because that's what they charged for their Bullitts and Mach I's, but I kept buggning the salesmanager ( who is a friend of mine ) about getting one for $100 over invoice. He never committed to anything - he kept telling me 'they're never gonna build that thing"! After it was announced that the car would indeed be built, he told me " they're probably gonna be $5000 over MSRP". I about had a heart attack, but I had to have one anyway. They have sold all of their GT500's at that price, even though they were offered $10,000 over MSRP from a huge dealership out on the coast. They weren't too happy however when a guy they sold one to at $5000 over MSRP walked out to the lot after doing the paperwork and sold it to somebody else for a profit. He never even drove it off the lot! All this did was convince them they were selling the cars too cheap!

You have to be the first person I have heard say anything good about Leman's. LOL

Although I can't speak for the one in Morton. Same owner but I hear lots of complaints about the one in Bloomington.

True story. We all pretty much use the same wholesalers that buy older high mileage cars we wouldn't want. Had a customer that shopped us then went to Leman's. They bought at Leman's because they said Leman's gave her $2K more for her trade! The wholesaler that was here that bid on her trade was the same one that bought it at Leman's. He was paying us $1,000 for it. Got it from Leman's for only $400!!!! So that means Leman's "showed" her $3K for her trade but really gave her $100 - $300 for it since they sold it to the wholesaler for only $400!!! So did the customer really get $3000??? Of course not. She just paid $3000 to much for the car she bought while being lead to believe she was getting $3K for her trade. Most dealers know most people get more hung up on what they get for their trade than what they are paying for the car they are buying. So they use that to "show" people more as over allowance which is coming off the over inflated price on the vehicle they are buying!

Best way to catch a dealer doing this? Tell them you decided against buying the vehicle, but the trade seems fair so just write you a check for that amount and they can just buy your trade out right! LOL Then listen to all the excuses fly!

That is the difference with us. If I show you a value on your trade, I'll write the check to buy it for that as well. No games. Real cash value based on what the vehicles are actually bringing at the sales everyday.

Sell the car to ME and I will pay the $1,500 on top of everything! He looks, then says....OK, you pay half that and the doctor can pay the other half! DONE!!! :happy feet:

Unfortunately most of the posts that lead to my comment was censored and taken out. if you are a moderator you can go back to it and read it.
