Grabber
Very hard to fight. Do you have a radar detector to try to pick up the signals in front of you when the cop is zapping others. This has saved my but many times. click on video.

TheKurgan
Yep I have a passport 8500XP50. I believe it's the same as the 9500, but the 9500 talks and has GPS for remembering places you don't want it to go off. I would definitely get one soon. I wish I would of bought one when I first got my car instead of waiting until the 3rd speeding ticket. Ebay has a guy selling them for about $80 less brand new in plastic. That's where I got mine. Don't waste your time fighting it, but instead use the money to get yourself a bird dog.

Sherri Leicht
Ask for defensive driving although I think 20 over is not eligible. Go for deferred adjudication next. Anything to keep it and the points off your record.

POP detection is available with this detector.... And actually if the police are using this method.. you can easily get out of the ticket in court. The manufacturers of the Radar Guns say that the this method is an unreliable form for issuing tickets and it tells them not to in the manual. Police still do it.. because very rarely is it challenged.

BLOWN
Sorry about your Ticket. I think in washington state 20 over is wreckless driving not sure what the punishment is for that.Grabber might know. From what you said I think it is a open and closed case. PayUP I use to use a radar detector. I could never talk my self out of a ticket when I had them. When they got you They got you they usually will not give you a break if you are using a Radar Device. It is kinda like I gotcha :happy feet: you even had a radar Detector :happy feet: didn't you see me. When they know that you have one It will be a challenge to them to give you a ticket if you are in the circle of cars that they are running radar on. That is just me I have had better luck with out them than with them. Good Luck

First question, was it Radar or Lidar? Today, most patrols use Lazer which is DEAD ACCURATE!!!. Was the ticket issued by City or State Highway Patrol? Cities aren't as highly equipped as Highway Patrol and they tune their equipment (usually) daily. Training for using this equipment....superior. Fighting in court. Forget about it. However, take the adjud advise. Plead but ask for no points...only if you've been clean for many years. Who knows, the Judge might own a Shelby and feel a fine with no points is good enough. If you're lucky with the no points deal, have credit card on hand and pay the man. Airborne

Airborne In the Denver area, I feel that microwave technologies are nearly "obsolete". 99% of the time I see the cops using laser….I’ve even seen some of the State Partrol in the area use laser. The ultimate solution is to install laser shifters (i.e. Blinder X25 or Escort ZR3). Laser shifter performance exceeds ANY windshield microwave / laser detector, since they can defeat the incoming signal. If you go with the Escort unit and have an Escort windshield unit, the two units can be mated together to operate as a seamless unit. The questions I have for the forum are: 1. Has anyone installed one of these shifters? 2. What was your real world experience with the unit? 3. How / where did you install the transmitters / receivers in the grill? 2112
I am surprised no one else has suggested this.....Get a Lawyer! It is all about money and the lawyers who specialize in this arena know how to get it resolved so that your insurance company doesn't get the best of you. I turn every single ticket I get over to a Lawyer. Last one was for a 41 in a 35. He made a phone call and they agreed to drop the whole thing if I just sent them the 120 bucks they wanted. His fee? something like 80 bucks. Took him 3 minutes on the phone.

Best bet is to take it to court and ask that the case be moved to a higher court. In most jurisdictions, the higher court (maybe Court of Common Pleas) will schedule more cases on a day than they can handle individual trials for. The prosecutor assigned to that days schedule will try to negociate a plea with as many of the defendants as possible because he/she and the court does not want to spend the day having trials. Find out from your motor vehicle depatment how your point system works. Where I am 1-9 over is 2 points against your record; 10 -14 is 4 pts and 15 and up is 5 pts; 20 and up is an automatic suspension unless you take a defensive drivign course. If you take the cours without being ordered by the court before the case goes to court, where I am from you get 3 points subtaracted from your driving record and 15 percent off onthe liability protion of your auto insurance for 3 years (required by law). Back to the court process: On the day you appear in court, get their about 30 minutes early, find the prosecutor and ask him if you can pled to whatever the lowest number of points are. Don't trust him/her to kknow the point system at motor vehcile; call them before you go to court. Most people that go to trial do not win. If you due go to trial and do not take a plea to a lesser speed, the best attack is to attack the testing before and after you were clocked. The police officer must show that he tested the rader before clocking you and after colocking you. The tests depend on the type of radar that was used. If there was no before and after tests, than you ask the case be dismissed. Hope this helps

ELITE 1
well it happened i got a speeding ticked clocked 75 in 55 with radar. does anyone have ideas how to fight speeding tickets with radar. open road no cars in front no cars in back. First off sorry about getting a ticket. I got a ticket in my shelby doing 73 in a 55 (so the cop said) on Hwy 12 near Rio Vista CA, I was going west and the cop was going east, there were other cars in front of me and no one behind me, as I pass him he flips a U-turn, I was like no way, I haven't had a ticket in years so I wasn't to worried. I get the ticket in the mail a few weeks later $200 and it says that I qualify for traffic school. I paid the fine, did traffic school online and no points on the license :happy feet: :happy feet: . I also got a ticket in my truck on the same Hwy only weeks later, this time the CHP was sitting on the side of the road three deep and they had one cop standing to the rear of the cars with a LIDAR gun, this was near a passing lane which is going up a hill and you could not see them until you crested the hill. I had my cruise control set at 55 (because I didn't want to get caught again). So as I am approaching the end of the passing lane, some idiot tries to pass me and the big rig that was behind me, I knew he wasn't going to make it so I sped up a little (no more than 62mph) to get some distance between me and the big rig so the idiot can get between us. As I crest the hill the cop at the front of the pack of CHP cars jumps out in front of my truck demanding me to pull over, I was like are you kidding me, I had to slam on the brakes as not to hit the cop and the only thing I am thinking about is the idiot and the big rig behind me crashing into the back of me. I pull over as fast as I can (as the idiot and the big rig wiz past me (obviously not doing the speed limit). As the cop comes up to my window he starts laying into me about don't you know what the speed limit is and that you were going 75mph, and we clocked you a half a mile back.....blah,blah,blah. When the cop came back with the ticket I tried to tell him why I was going faster than the speed limit but he didn't care one bit. So I get the ticket in the mail $205, only this time I can not go to traffic school, so I decide to fight it. I fought the ticket through a written declaration, I gathered as much evidence as I could, I took pictures were the cops were parked vs where the said they clocked me and the from my point of view. I submitted all my evidence and wrote down exactly what happend, what the officer said to me and that there was no way that the officer with the LIDAR gun clocked me coming up a hill when they couldn't see me and I couldn't see them (last time I checked laser light does not bend down hills). Two months later I get a letter from the courts telling me that my ticket has been dismissed and that they are refunding me my $205 dollars, I was happy to say the least If any one drives on Hwy 12 between Faifield and Rio Vista, Ca, make sure you are going 55mph or you could be next . I am sorry if I Hi-Jacked your thread Here is were the CHP were parked. This the view that the CHP saw, looking down the hill. This is my view, coming up the hill. STLN08
If the officer was is an experienced traffic enforcement or highway patrol officer, you will lose in court. I served over 5 years in traffic / DWI enforcement unit in the St.louis area and never lost in court for a speeding ticket or DWI. An experienced professional officer is very knowledgeable in court and has heard and answered all the questions before. The radar units do not need to warm up in pulse mode. They are already turned on and warm, they are just not admitting a signal until the officer switches on. Most officers sit on overpasses out of view and they first observe you travelling at a high rate of speed and then enter the higway and pace you from behind. Then he / she admittes a radar signal and locks your speed into the display. By the time your radar detector alarms you, its too late! He has then observed you speeding, paced you speeding, and measured you speeding by radar. Get a lawyer to have the charges reduced to a non moving violation and pay the lawyer and fine. If its a State charge, then good luck....
STLN08
Of course, I have worked with a lot of idiot people that just happen to be cops. My Point? If the officer was experienced and professional...... It will be tough to beat.. I never wrote a ticket if I was not 100% on the violation. I have given 1000's of verbal warnings because of this.
