Skip
When the car is turning off. Is it normal to be able to shift the shifter in and out of gear with out using the clutch? I was checking into the shifter rattle issue and noticed that I can do this and wanted to verify if this is normal,I can't remember for the life of me if my 07 did this or not. I did not have a rattle though. I am having a dumb moment and am 2nd guessing myself here. I had a couple of bolts that were loose top & bottom and they have now been torqued and my exhaust hangers were appearently removed either at Ford or Shelby but either way they are gone on my 08 and I am still getting the rattle. 07SHELBY GT
If the synchros are lined up it should easily go in and out of certain gears.
Skip
If the synchros are lined up it should easily go in and out of certain gears. Thanks for the reply. I was thinking that it was normal characteristics of the shifter for this to happen but could not remember, I don't usually make a habit of shifting with out the clutch. Just trying to narrow down the the cause of the rattle.
TheKurgan
Yep that's perfectly normal. I've had standards all my life and they all do that. That's why it's always important to set your emergency brake.
