Ok, I'm a little saddened by this news. I like our little SGT world over here. But am open to the possibility that it will be better in the long term.

We are close knit group over here so at least we won't be alone over there (strength in numbers).

Watch out stangsunleashed! The SGT Mafia is coming to town!

They wont' know what hit em :D

I'm already AFBLUE over there too.

We to have a very close knit group of members. It's like a big family that for the most part all looks out for each other. We have great vendors too that stand behind their products. Vendors that are car guys like us, that really care about performance and keeping us happy. Our group support for each other is like no other that I have seen....except here. We are going to have a great team with our 2 groups.

A lot of "selling" going on here! B)

You don't have to buy it, you can check it out for yourself and you will see. :)

I am already a member. Just to let you know most of us already are and the selling does not have to go that deep! Its a good site just a bigger site and more geared to the GT500 that is why we all like it here. We can b*itch, laugh and love our cars right here in this little old site just for SGT people. :)

OK.

I guess you'll just have to do that on the same threads over on Team Shelby.

Sorry all, I just got a chance to read all of this.

This is a great opportunity and I think we should all embrace this. It's a chance to unite and become stronger - both in merging the forums and merging more with our GT500 brothers.

Another positive is that we won't have to keep checking multiple forums. We'll have a one-stop-shop for all info. Plus, this new site will have RSS feeds so you'll have a chance to get up-to-date info right at your desktop. For more info on that, search this forum as I've explained it once before.

Robert and Sharon, congrats to you, your club and your team. This is very much well deserved. If you need any help, as mentioned, I'd be glad to help however I can.

For those asking why no formal comment from SAI, it's probably because they've been busy with SEMA (I wish I could have gone).

Now, I can't wait to get my new Team Shelby shirt and I am longing for that 162 page collectible magazine!

Gimme, gimme, gimme :D

WOW!

I'm going to have to soak this all up before I post my next post on all this.

ps: I have been reading on occasion just not posting

Coldy,

So you're a lurker that has come out of the closet?

Read what Carroll says:

TEAM SHELBY TO MOVE OWNERS AND FANS INTO THE FAST LANE

Las Vegas - October 31, 2007 - The legendary Carroll Shelby is creating a new community for enthusiasts of the cars built by his companies. Based in Dearborn, Michigan, “Team Shelby,” is the only club officially recognized by the factory for all vehicles built by Shelby, including 2006 and newer Shelby based Mustangs. The club will officially launch on January 11, 2008, which is Mr. Shelby's 85th birthday.

“People have asked me for years to form a club that will help them really enjoy their Shelby car,” said Carroll Shelby, Founder and CEO of Shelby Automobiles. “There's a new generation of cars, new faces at Shelby and people who want to enjoy their vehicle in new ways. The world has changed over the past 42 years, so we need a club to meet the needs of this new generation. We want to knit together those people with owners of early Shelbys and give everyone new ways to have fun with their high performance vehicle.”

Mr. Shelby imagined a place where owners could talk about their latest conquests at the track, swap E.T's and learn new ways to hot rod their cars. He wanted to link all of those enthusiasts into one “dream garage” populated with Super Snakes, Hertz cars, Cobra's, supercharged Shelby GT's, Mustang GT's with Shelby performance parts, Series 1's, GLH's, Vipers and GT500's. Thus, Team Shelby was born.

“We're experts at creating winning teams by combining our strengths with those of others who have unique talents and skills,” said Amy Boylan, president of Shelby Automobiles. “So we took the same approach to create Team Shelby. It didn't make sense for us to form and operate a club on our own, so we looked for a partner who was a true enthusiast and capable of creating an organization that would give all its members real value. That led us to the S197 Shelby Owners Association.”

Robert Lane and Sharon Elliot founded the S197 Shelby Owners Association in early 2007. After meeting with Boylan, they evolved their organization into Team Shelby (www.TeamShelby.com). It is designed and engineered by real enthusiasts inside and out of Shelby. And just as the Shelby team relies on the latest technology to build their cars and products, Team Shelby will be at the forefront of the latest innovations.

“We're developing a Web site with member only areas that have videos, forums, podcasts, exclusive news and insights straight from the factory,” added Robert Lane. “And we're planning simulcasts briefings with Carroll and other key Shelby execs through the site. Plus, we'll invite Ford and other Shelby partners to communicate with our club members through it. This will enhance the sense of community and give team members the first crack at Shelby news, products and events.”

Team Shelby is not a “virtual club” the group will design and distribute a quarterly e-newsletter and is planning a full compliment of events such as tours of the Ford and Shelby facilities, a 40th anniversary GT500KR reunion, track days, Hertz reunion and other events. Membership includes official Shelby gear and an opportunity to learn more about the development of cars. Anyone can join Team Shelby on line for only $49.95 and receive benefits including:

• First news on all of the products and vehicles coming out of Shelby

• Exclusive access to members only areas of the Club web site

• Quarterly club publication

• Official Team Shelby T-shirt

• Two official club decals

• Shelby Commemorative magazine

• Shelby Key chain

• Two official membership cards

• Shelby Performance Parts catalog and discount on all parts

While interest in current generation Shelbys cars was the foundation for the club, ownership of a Shelby is not required to be a member. The club is dedicated to serving all Shelby enthusiasts past and present including those that own cars built in the 1960's and non-Ford powered vehicles.

“We built Team Shelby for anyone who is passionate about Shelby cars,” added Carroll Shelby. “I'm member #001 and anyone who wants to have fun should join, whether or not they own a Shelby car. I'd love to see GT500's on the track with the high strung GLH's and limited edition Series 1 cars. We'll have a blast and we'll do it the Shelby way.”

I really don’t know where to start, so I’ll start by saying that StangsUnleashed.com really took off right around the time the 2005 New York Auto Show debuted the 450HP Shelby GT500 prototype. From there folks from around the world started searching the internet for more news on the “New Shelby GT500”. Robert just happened to be at the right place at the right time for his site to start taking off & since he was in Ford Motor Companies backyard in Dearborn, Michigan; he was able to capitalize on it with his many years of connections in the auto world & with a camera by posting Spy photos. No one knew at that time that this car was going to create the type of hype & attention we see today.

What I think folks need to remember is that this car is also one of Ford’s crown jewels & they have helped market it in a time of need when they most needed it. If it wasn’t for Ford asking for Carroll to come back into the automotive scene again, none of us would have the opportunity to buy one of these Shelby dream machines that we have all longed for; for so long as we grew up & might not have today. Yes, StangsUnleashed has a lot of GT500 owners, but we also have sections for other mustang models & years. It’s not about one model more than another, it’s about what you put into it & get out of it. We welcome all newcomers & old-timers, their just as important as the next guy & what he drives, even if it’s a Chevy or Dodge.

I can’t speak for Amy, but she knew a good thing when she found it. StangsUnleashed was an independent website out of the main stream from Ford. The members there have so many connections around the world that can help find out stuff that other websites can only dream of. I for one welcome each & every one of you to re-visit us or give us another chance over their before you start knocking this partnership. I see nothing but positive things coming ahead for each & every one of us with even more vendors wanting to be associated with the Shelby owners on all levels. I look forward to meeting even the Dodge Viper folks at Shelby meets across the nation who will soon be joining us under this one Team Shelby umbrella.

Come on; give it a chance, were all Shelby lovers at heart & we need to support each other during this time of change. United we stand, divided we fall.

Okay, I know I'm a little dense, but can someone tell me where you pay your $49.95 for your membership? I'm already registered over at stangsunleashed. Do you have to register again so they can take your money? Or are we grandfathered in? I'm willing to jump in the pool so I can get my membership stuff, I'm just not sure where the diving board is . . .

"SGT Mafia", that has a nice ring to it. Maybe we need to play this up some.

As much as I dislike this change let me try to clarify something as I understand it.

You do not have to pay a fee and join the Team Shelby club to use the forum. There are plenty of stangsunleashed forum members who are not a member of the S197OA. If you want the benefits of the club then you will have to pay.

Adam,

Since you seem to be more involved with SAAC then I am and had inside knowledge of Team Shelby do you have any feedback from SAAC?
