Car Covers

To all the fellow SGT extended family members:

I have been looking on internet for car covers for my new 08 SGT coupe, there are several locations with several fabric choices.

Can anyone shed some light as to the best fabric to use and the best location to get one?

My car will be store inside a garage, it would be nice to keep some of the dust off of it as I also live on a rural acrage with lots of farm fields around.

I know that you can also purchase a car cover with the Shelby Cobra emblem through www.fordaccessoriesstore.com. Ford wants $400 for this one and you don't know anything about the fabric.

The Shebly Emblem has a certain "WOW" factor, but I could live without it to save a $100.

I would like to purchase one before the car gets here in about 6 weeks.

I have the Ford cover. Not the Shelby one, just the regular mustang GT one. I got it last year when I had my GT. It worked great. It seems very durable and well built. I have no idea what the material is. I will be using it on my SGT in about a week. I think it was in the $200 plus range. My wife got it for me for my bday.

Does the coverking cover that you ordered take into consideration the hood pins on the front and the deletion of the spoiler on the back? I have been waiting for SAI to arrange with some manufacturer to account for those differences as well as the California Special fascia.

I did a great deal of research on this topic and was looking for a custom cover for my SGT that, like yours, is kept in the garage and is covered the majority of the time. I was looking for (1) a very snug fit (to defeat dust) and (2) as much "ding" protection in the garage as is reasonably possible.

I got my cover from Car Cover World (http://www.carcoverworld.com)

Part Number: C16728BK

Description: 2007 FORD MUSTANG SHELBY GT Coupe (2 Door)/2 Mirror Pockets/ Size G3 2 Mirror Pockets - Evolution® (Technalon®) - Blue

Price: $171.95

Here is the page that takes you to the cover I got and shows you the various choices, including color: http://www.carcoverworld.com/lookup.asp?se...rs&pc=evolution

This cover was tested in a way I had never anticipated. One week to the day from when I brought my SGT home, we were evacuated from our home due to the advancing fires here in San Diego. I had to leave the SGT behind. It was left in the garage with the cover on it. If you followed the news, you know that an area of San Diego, called Rancho Bernardo, was hit very hard by the fires. That is where we live. We were allowed back into our home yesterday afternoon. You can imagine the ash that was everywhere. Add to that the fact that the fires were fed by winds that blew 50 mph at times and you can also imagine that ash swirling around and getting into everything.

While there was very fine ash on the car cover, it blew off easily with a leaf blower. When I took the cover off, there was not a speck of dust on the car. Bottom line, I am sure there are many covers that will work well for you, but this one sure passed every test I can imagine.

Pardon this long post but I know you want as much information as you can get before you buy. Good luck.

Jim
