mark1
All the Shelby GTs that have appeared on Ebay or that have been received by people on the discussion forums so far have manual transmissions. Is there a parts shortage of 3.55 rear ends holding up production of the auto trans cars? My stock SGT w/auto has been there 4 weeks but is still "In Production". Is it just me or all automatics? goakley1
I completely understand that train of thought... I also looked at the VIN checker - a million times a day - and then it said "Completed and Shipped". Now the anticipation of it showing up and my dealer not ripping me off is gonna happen this week... They still haven't given us a "firm" price... We've gone to the dealer at least 4 times with our checkbook in hand to get them to sell it to us. Right now all we have is the "first right to refusal" and "price to be negotiated"... We really can't take it anymore... But will keep you posted... Sleepless with PSDS in San Diego As you know 1/2 of the production is supposed to be automatic. Most people prefer the stick in a mustang. The way ford allocated to dealers was that every dealer that wanted one could get one, and it could be a stick. If you wanted a 2nd one it had to be automatic. Your 3rd could be a stick followed by another auto. Gues what everybody ordered first!
ShelbyPilot
GLH-S Fan, I am a bit confused on the 50/50 thing. How many dealers are there? Another dealership employee said there are roughly 4200. Is that correct? If it is and every dealer got to order a manual first, if they wanted to, that would not be 50/50. I could be very wrong. What is the correct dealership number and were some forced to order automatics if there are more than 3000?

What is the correct dealership number and were some forced to order automatics if there are more than 3000? The number of dealers I believe is a little over 3K in the US. Ithink the 4200 includes Canadian dealers. Not every dealer will order one. All you have to do is read the boards here and you will realize that a lot of dealers out there don't even know this car exists yet! By the time they do it will be to late to get one. If they don't order it they don't automaticly get one.

More speculation: If only 2000 dealers ordered S-GTs (3 per each dealer), the ratio could approach 2-1 manual-auto trans. Allocation restriction is only that dealers alternate trans types when ordering. Here is the memo copied from another forum. Gary OMG, you've waited all this time and the car isn't even yours? Have you shopped other dealers? The car is really in the dealerships name and not yours? This is outrageous. I am floored by the tactics of these dealers and wonder if there is some smart lawyer that can find some issue with price-fixing or the RICO Act etc. If I were you I would get out to as many dealers as possible and get quotes and see if you can get one to sell to YOU, in your name, with cash. It took me 9 dealers but I found one that not only was willing to sell to ME but at list price with no mark-up. Even a plane fare and shipping from a distant dealer to get a good price is less than some of the mark-ups I was offered! How sad that the car that was supposed to be affordable has ended up this way.

Gary Just remember that if you go out of state make sure you get a car w/ the right emissions pkg. If the Albany NY area isn't to far, I have a white auto, and a black & white stick available w/ California emissions, good in all 50 states. Currently the dreaded ADM is +5K. If you search you can probably do better as some have, but if you can't or don't want to search PM me for the cars spec's. They are all well equipped 140A pkgs w/o Shaker 1000 or Nav. The white auto is at Shelby now, the black stick is enroute to SAI. The white stick is at the factory, serialized, and in production. If nothing else, if the dealer tries to hold you up for more than 5k you can always show him this. Be prepared to walk away, but before you rely on this offer make sure they are still available. Check BEFORE you go to the dealership. Now before everybody blasts me about the price consider this: I'm sure I'm not the only dealer reading this site. Somebody may post behind me and say I'll do 4500. Somebody may come behind him and offer 4K. You might be able to drive the price down w/ this site. Just remember that 6k cars is an average of 120 per state, and many of them are already spoken for. Good Luck!
