SC2004arispe
Great news :bandance: When did you order 1st. I'm a Powerlease holder and I tried to order middle of May, but could only talk about ADMs. After about 5 dealers found an awsome one that would work with me (below MSRP). Sorry PSDS taking over anyways 5/1/06 I ordered. By the way, when I leased, I was told that my Cobra "WOULD BE PRODUCED FIRST" That has not happened, cause Indymustang got hers before me and she is not a Powerlease holder "WHAT GIVES" I've been paying $400 mo. to get mine 1st and ........... Maybe Ford should have let the experts do this, " Special Vehicle Team" Dealers!!!

cchesley
Zaino is an excellent quality automotive finish line of products. They are available online. Just do a search. I use them, too. Just some food for thought, it has been recommended to me by a autobody and paint specialist to never put on any kind of wax or finish on a brand new paint finish for about a year, to allow the paint to cure. When water stops beading on the surface of the car, then the paint is fully cured, and it is ready for polishing and waxing. Before that, and you don't allow for the paint to breath and therefore prevent the paint from fully curing and hardening. KingCobra.
Niswonger
That makes some sense. What about the clay bar, I still think it would be a good idea to use it.

Before the days of clearcoat and paint formulations other than good 'ole enamel, that was the case. A new, clearcoated paint should be OK to wax in less than 60 days according to my brother in law, who is a Mercedes craft painter. Check with the highest-end paint pro in your area, not Earl or M**CO or even the dealership's shop. Clay is to rub out the surface imperfections in the clearcoat. It won't do jack for anything beneath it. bj

[/quot Yeah...but it takes a while..and you have to make sure and keep it really slick. I use dish soap. I'm a wuss, so rather than have the extreme pride of busting my butt for a day, I take it to a concours-grade paint shop and have them do it. It costs more, but they know exactly how much pressure to use, how to work with the refractions and reflections of the finish, etc. Once that's done, I am more than happy to spend a couple of hours using a cleaner then a wax. bj
Niswonger
I might just wait for a couple months then, I would like to clay and wax all at once. One big planned day, ya know?? Last time I did it on our '05 GT it took me about 7 hours to do wash, clay, wash, wax, polish detail spray... for 3 coats. Looked great. Want another couple coats for the dark metallic paint. oldimp
Well, it is "Gate Released" as of 30 June and my dealership called today saying the ETA is now 10 July, which is Monday after a holiday week, so I think possibly the 14th of July! I am just thrilled it got out of there and on the way before the plant shut down! Best of luck to all!

UPDATE AS OF 7/5/06 4:30PM. NO GATE RELEASE BECAUSE IT'S SITTING IN THE LOT WAITING FOR THE OVER THE TOP STRIPES TO BE APPLIED. SO MUCH FOR HAVING IT ON MY BIRTHDAY NEXT WEEK. THE UAW TROOPS ARE BACK AS OF THE 17TH. I *MAY* GET IT STRIPED AND RELEASED THAT WEEK, WHICH MEANS I *MAY* SEE IT BY THE END OF THE MONTH. C'EST LA VIE. ONE MORE MONTH WITH NO CAR PAYMENT, NO INSURANCE AND 33MPG ON MY GOLDWING, SO IT'S NOT ALL BAD. bj
KingCobra
Well, I just spoke to my guy and Ford of Canada today, and apparently mine should be delivered between the 15th and 22nd of July!!!!!!! I'm taking it with a grain of salt though. I'll believe it when I get handed the keys. It would be extra cool though, because my birthday is July 18th. What a birthday present!!!!!!! KingCobra. blksnake
My dealer just told me Ford is having quality problrms with 2006 Mustangs and will not work on shipping the 2007 Shelbys until they get this resolved. My Ebony Shelby Coupe was built on the 12th and was released to ship on the 27th. It had an eta of July 3rd, then July 8th, and noe maybe the 14th. Leave it to Ford to hold up cars that are ready to ship for other cars that have quality issues. That makes no sense. Keep things moving. No wonder they are in financial trouble. They should at least be shipping the cars that are cleared. msdcobra

blksnake
Doesn't build much trust in Ford does it? They just do not get the customer service side at all. People are waiting for these cars and then they lie time after time about when they are shipping, among other things. I have been a loyal customer of Ford for over 30 years, but I can sure see why some people choose to spend their money elsewhere. msdcobra
PhotoRick
The first cars are bound to have some "issues" that need to be resolved. It could be something very simple that needs to be done to a lot full of Shelbys. The major issues have most likely been worked out so odds are that it is something small. Any issue with something as "high vis" as the Shelby could become a lot of bad publicity, so better safe than sorry. Just one man's guess.

Spoke with dealer today who says they have heard nothing and the only way they can track it is if its on a rail car? He said when cars go through a certain depot they take forever, some times days some times weeks. Promised July 1st at latest now nothing? September 1st our summer is pretty much over here. So much for planning a special vacation with the Shelby inc hotel rooms etc. should have known somthing was amiss. Oh well at least I am keeping the miles low If your car was completed on 8 June, or even if it just had a build date of 8 June, the car had to be completed that next week. Mine was completed 16 June, but wasn't "Released to Gate" until the 30th. Mine is on the train to Kentucky, maybe already there. From there it gets trucked to SC. Yours has to be getting to you very soon! You should have two or three weeks to drive it before September 1st! Hang in there!
