Orf
Bear with me here, as this might sound a little preachy, but I don't know how to say it without it sounding that way. I don't like drama. I try to stay out of it whenever possible. On a site that is populated primarily by adults, the atmosphere has turned into what amounts to a grade school playground. Pardon the cliché, but too many people are acting their shoe size, instead of their age. Personal issues are just that - personal. They don't belong in a public venue. Unfortunately, in the age of "Reality TV" and Jerry Springer, personal issues blown out of proportion and exposed for all to see has become the norm. Again, I try to stay out of it, until it affects me. Why am I posting this in this thread? Because the gathering this weekend looks like it may be where everything comes to a head. I put a bit of time and energy into organizing this event. Not a lot, but with three kids and a business to run I don't have a lot of extra time to devote. There are a few people I want to get together with for the fourth time since October 2006. There are others I want to see for the second, or third time. There are still others I have yet to meet, and I look forward to getting to know them a little bit. All of that preamble brings me to my point. If anyone who is planning to attend cannot guarantee that they will act like an adult for the entire weekend, then simply don't show up. I will not stand for any immature behavior. Don't ask what I will do, because I don't know. It would depend on the circumstance at the time. My apologies to Bill Bixby and Lou Ferrigno, but you wouldn't like me when I'm angry. This in meant for everyone, and is not directed at anyone in particular. Further, if there are any incidents, then I will not plan any gatherings on the Outer Banks in future, nor will I attend any. I have been contacted by more than a few people who are considering not showing up, for fear of what might happen - especially in front of kids. I cannot express how upset I am that it has come to the point where I have to actually put these thoughts down in writing. Those of you who know me also know that I am normally rather relaxed and easy-going. Please don't force me to be otherwise. Feel free to post your thought on the matter, but as far as I'm concerned, I have said all that I am going to say about the subject. My position is clear. RUFDRAFT
Our dinner reservation is for 6 pm. That's what the hostess recommended for a party this size. Is it okay if we plan to leave the hotel at 5:30? I've arranged for an NC State Highway Patrol escort down to dinner. :happy feet:
