gt5001
http://www.stangsunleashed.com/2005/articl...bycs6.02nov.htm This may help explain why there is a question about Shelby's name appearing on the GT500. What do you think?
JETSOLVER
linky no good? So this is the GT350? I wonder what the weight differance is vs. the Fe. and Al GT blocks, and what it means to the handling? I have driven several S197 cars both GT and V6 ragtop and coupe and the only real differance I felt balance wise was the GT rag does understeer a bit more than the rest. Might just be slightly softer springs/struts though. As to the car well I wanted the SVT part more than his name so the more offerings on these silly popular cars the better we as enthusiasts are. Hard to believe the Mustang is a Billion $ a yr. hobby isn't it? :o

CrazyHorse
http://www.stangsunleashed.com/2005/articl...bycs6.02nov.htm 590 Wow. If that type of decaling and badging truly makes it to production it would be well recieved by Mustang customers. The Shelby badging & HP are critical in MHO. amorris
http://www.stangsunleashed.com/2005/articl...bycs6.02nov.htm This may help explain why there is a question about Shelby's name appearing on the GT500. What do you think? 564 Well... a) Not a factory production car...aftermarket modified. The GT500 is the factory car. B) Modified V6, not a V8 - although I have seen another article that refers to a V8 in this car (misprint?) c) Not sure if this is intended to be the "GT350" offering or not..... d) Might reduce the value of the GT500 later on, but I doubt it. e) Photos I saw from the same show, on another GT500 site show the GT500 at that show had a tail more like the original showcar. SHELBY lettering was painted on, and the 3rd brake light was back up in the spoiler. One can only hope......
crispy23c
Those "J.C. Whitney" side stripes make me ill. I wouldn't mind if Shelby slapped his name on another real production car, but isn't one Shelby Mustang enough? Does he really have to do aftermarket Mustangs too??? If he was really smart, he would come out with his own line of performance products, even if they were "rebranded", he would make a killing, especially if they were for the Mustang. Not too swift, if you ask me. What's next, a Shelby toaster??? Shelby: "I am very proud to announce my G.T. (Great Toast) 500. Why "500"? Because we're only going to build 500 of 'em, Shelby style, for only $12,000 each"

KBE
Shelby Automobiles will not build a GT350 or a GT500; these are Ford cars. Why would Shelby confuse the issue, let alone the legalities? Along with the CS6, they will also build about 25 high performance Shelby's with a SC V8 beginning in the spring of '06. robertlane
I wonder who even owns the GT350 or GT500 names. Doesn't a nameplate have to be used every so many years to remain with a certain property holder?

Doesn't a nameplate have to be used every so many years to remain with a certain property holder? 631 Yes. Back in the day with the FOX cars Ford had to start using the Cobra name or lose it. Thereby confirming Ford's right to the name. It was O. John Colletti that fought within the company for the real performance cars that from 93 onwards wear the SVT Cobra name, as opposed to the sticker version that came out in 83? I believe. Fun to drive, but nothing special except the suspension.
TruBlu01
These are mearly GT's with aftermarket work done just as Shelby did them in the 60's with less work into it. Another way for him to make more money off his name.
