Good friends, new friends, fast cars, good food, good music and hopefully good weather. Mark your calendars for Sat. May 24th and let me know if you are interested in attending. The event will be held at my place again. I have an acre and plenty of room to park the cars in the field where we will be having the party. The location is 5 miles east of I-5 @ the 179th Street exit (Clark Co.fairgrounds exit) in Battleground, WA. The zip code is 98604 if you want to mapquest the location. Gun Oil - (Win & Sam) - Confirmed attendance Last years group photo shoot in the field This years Itinerary: LIVE MUSIC 10am: The band arrives and sets up drums and sound system. 11am - 2pm: Live music plays for 3 hours THE EVENT 10am: People start arriving and parking there cars in the 1/2 acre field where the event is going to be held. If you want to come earlier and wash your car at my house, or have a cup of coffee you can. I will be out and about, so feel free to come at 9am if you want. I have wash stuff here you can use. 11am - 12pm: Arrange cars in the field for a photo shoot. Show off our rides and get to know each other. 12pm - 2pm: Barb-B-Q on the grill and eat lunch with friends and visit and enjoy the live music. 2:30pm - 3:30pm: The cruise to Crown point on the columbia river Gorge (35 miles to the vista house from my place). ShelbyGT07 Posted April 9, 2008 Report Share Posted April 9, 2008 We live in Kent and made the trip to Grabber's place last year in about 2.5 hours (we made a couple quick stops en route). From Tacoma, 2 hours should be plenty. My wife and I may stay at a Vancouver hotel Friday night so that we're close to Grabber's Saturday morning, but if we don't, we'd be open to joining the convoy. Leaving the Tacoma Mall at 7:30am would probably be about right. Arrive at Grabber's around 9:30 to 10am (depending on pit stops anyone may need on the way). I have a bunch of those little sprinkler flags that I will poke in the ground to figure it out. When everyone shows up, I will have a parking plan set up for the photo shoot. I will set up a ladder to get on the roof with a rope to get to the peek of my shop to take a elevated photo or 2...or 3, or 4. With this many cars, we will need a higher photo vantage point. Rob, last year we brought Shirley's digital SLR camera (Nikon D50), but only had the standard lens at the time, so we had to get up high on the ladder like everyone else to squeeze all the cars in. Since then, however, I've bought her a couple of spendy specialty lenses including a wide angle Nikkor lens with their best ED glass. It takes stellar wide angle shots, so we'll bring it along to better get all the cars in the picture without having to be a hundred feet back (and up). It'll still be cool to get a few shots from up high again, though. Also, I just finished fabricating a camcorder mount that attaches on top of the passenger seat under the headrest so that we can get video of the drive to the falls. Probably won't be a fast and full of curves as last year's drive toward Cougar, but it'll be nice to get video of the GT500's passing my slow GT. We recently bought a hard drive camcorder that can hold over 30 hours of video, so we'll get lots of footage. With twice as many cars this year, a parking plan will be a great idea. Glad you're on it. I was thinking that instead of bringing food with us, I'd bring cash instead to help you offset your expenses. I know this event is going to cost you a bunch, so I'll be happy to help out with money. Besides, you don't really want unrefrigerated potato salad riding shotgun in my charcoal leather interior for 2 hours on a sunny day - yuck! I will pick everything up here at Costco in bulk. I will have a donation can at the food table for folks to pitch in. I tried to rent a Shelby GTH from Hertz but they don't have any available. They won't even guarantee us a Mustang so I don't know what will be driving.
