ilmor
I thought these historical e.t.'s and top speeds of past Shelby and Boss Mustangs was interesting, especially in comparison to our current and future Shelbys' performance figures. SLB8SNK
I tell people this all the time. Say what you want about the old cars, cool yes... but our cars today are faster and much better tuned than those, and handle like a dream in comparison! Good post! STLShelby
Those times prove why i was always beating Ford's with my small block Chevy's. Seriously though, with these new cars you lose your perception of speed, since they are more refined. In the old muscle cars when you were doing a 100 mph you felt like you were going 150 mph. Tire and suspension technology wasn't what it is today either. A lot of those cars would have turned better times with todays suspension and rubber. There is a trade off if you want that old school nostalgia. It's old technology, unless you go the restomod route. I was looking seriously looking at old muscle cars before i bought the 03 Mach and the Shelby, but decided i didn't want to be constantly tinkering with them to keep them running properly. Guess i'm getting old. Plus there's no warranty, something goes wrong or you break it, it's on you. Considering what the old muscle cars sell for, i think the new ones are the better buy, and some of the old muscle cars are actually getting to valuable to drive. It's really an over inflated market imo. You have the best of both worlds with the new ones. If i want to get in the Shelby and drive it to California i can do so in comfort with no worries. I wouldn't do that in a 60's or 70's model. Yep i'm getting old. Thanks for the post ilmor, it gave me time to reflect on the advantages of the new cars. 07SHELBY GT
Just think our cars are supposed to go 13.60's with the right driver and conditions,Stock with only 281 cubes!Technology is great isn't it!
