Grabber, I called VOPC, and they state my car was built last week, but is now on "quality hold"?? Anyone know what that means? Is that good or bad??? :banghead:

It just means the engineer wants to take it to the race track near his home and do some "testing" a 1/4 mile at a time!

:tease:

I think it means that they there was either:

- some sort of issue (paint was scratched, they found out a part was installed incorrectly etc) so they pulled it so they can fix the defect

- or, they pulled your car at random to "quality check" it - basically your car gets another inspection to verify everythings ok.

This is just from memory based on other posts about "quality hold".

Maybe Grabber's "littel birdie" will be able to help more.

Best of luck Dan. I know it must feel like you'll NEVER get your car. I know the feeling!!! :banghead:

The day its delivered will be that much sweeter for you!

dan,

quality hold is a generic term used to describe any condition for which Ford would hold the car from being released. It could be something as simple as Ford found a POTENTIAL issue in the assembly process and wants to verify it is ok before releasing cars...all the way to a major "OH SH@*" where they have something to fix.

Ford will not "officially" tell you what the quality hold is for...it's a corporate rule of thumb to not share dirty laundry. You can probably find out if you beat the bushes and talk to insiders. For example, if you were at the Dearborn event and got the phone number of a person who works on the striping line. :spiteful: (Just kidding...I did NOT get her phone number).

My car was involved in a quality hold late last year. It evidently had to do with emergency brake cables...the ones under the car were getting water in them and freezing, so I THINK they had to make a minor change and retrofit cars that were on "quality hold".

I know it's frustrating...but hang tight. At least they found the issue BEFORE sending you the car.

Fantastic Grabber,

Ok, the story I am getting now is all the car carrier rail cars go to a switcher train

to Colton approx 12 miles but not sure.

Any info on this?

Thanks, Dave

Arg.... thanks! I think :banghead: I guess it could be a good thing. It just seems so strange. I was told by Shelbydude that my car was built on 8/29 then I get someone else that states the car was built on 8/30. Then VOPC says the car was built some time before 8/29?? WTF? Now I get this quality hold thing and I am freaking!! I just hope nothing went wrong with it. I would rather it got pulled for a second inspection. It appears by what you state that I am stuck to wonder and there is no real one stop source who can tell me all! :banghead:

I already addressed your response on the 8/29 vs. 8/30 thing

Don't trust the VOPC...it is an estimate only.

True, no one person you can call...welcome to the world of enthusiast car ownership...as I would guess 99% of all car buyers never do any of what we are doing to check on the status of their cars.

I am new here, can anyone tell me the current status of my new 2008 Shelby GT vert.?

I know that it was built during week of August 13, 2007.

I think it is enroute to SAI now.

Can I get a pdf of the window sticker too?

"Update"

Ok, I went to the dealer today and showed them the tracking info and they seemed

suprised and said they will call me as soon as the car arrives on their lot.

I got the name of the car carrier co. (HADLY) could not come up with their

scheduled deliveries.

I also went to the rail yard, told the security guy what I was looking for and

he laughed and showed me the gate. !@#$%^&*...........

Now I am at home trying to relax with my SILVER BULLITS (4 down ???? to go).

Start a new thread with your car arrival pic's and may I suggest that you use photo bucket to host your photos. Here is the link on how to do it. We need pic's.
