2022 Team Shelby Northern Plains Nationals! July 8-10

Back by popular demand and for the 60th Anniversary of Shelby American!

Team Shelby will be hosting the Northern Plains Nationals. Just like membership in Team Shelby, you don't have to own a Shelby to attend. You just need an appreciation for the man, the vehicles and the Shelby family that helped to create the amazing legacy. Oh and a desire to have some damn fun! We hope to see examples of all of Shelby's vehicles this year for the 60th! Shelby Cobras (replicas included!), Shelby Mustangs, Shelby Dodges (even the vans!), Shelby trucks and Ford GTs and Dodge Vipers.

 

ALL profits from this event will be donated to the Carroll Shelby Foundation, "helping kids in the race for life".

 

Schedule of events:

Friday:
Team Shelby Northern Plains Nationals Car Show and Welcome Party! 5-9pm at Hooters in Council Bluffs. This car show will be participant judged. Check in 5-6, judging 6-8, awards about 8:30. DOES NOT have to be a Shelby vehicle. Currently planning 8 classes, including a Best Non-Shelby Car and Best Non-Shelby Truck. We may expand the Shelby classes depending on what gets registered for the event. Food and drinks available the whole time with a separate party area at Hooters for event participants! Expect some cornhole boards, music, etc.

Saturday:
Track day at Raceway Park of the Midlands for a lot of fun on the 2.23 mile circuit! 7:00am to 5:00pm. This track is a perfect track for beginners and track veterans alike. We currently plan on 3 run groups, for complete track newbies, some track experience and then track veterans. Run groups will run for 20 minute sessions and we will keep a constant rotation so you will get A LOT of wheel time! There will be time for parade laps for ALL event participants and track photos. When we shut down the track between 5 and 5:30 and then have a back roads cruise back into town where the majority of the hotels are located.

We will have a Team Shelby dinner and charity auction Saturday evening 7-9ish at the Quaker Steak and Lube in Council Bluffs, IA. We will be auctioning off some really great items with all proceeds going DIRECTLY to the Carroll Shelby Foundation charity. 

This dinner after the long day at the track was a ton of fun last year to relax and socialize in the air conditioning with good food! For those who want to get in some drag racing against some of the region's toughest competition, you can head back out to I-29 Dragway for open racing for $25.

Sunday:
We will meet up at 9:00am for some donuts and coffee and do a Shelby Poker Chip Run (stops to be determined) followed by a farewell pizza lunch at The Owner's Pride shop before everyone begins their journey home.

Event Pricing:
Full track package- $250! This includes access to all events and full track time. Also includes your event t-shirt and event door decals!
Participant package- $75! This package includes access to all events and your event t-shirt!
Door Decals- $35! Not doing the track package, but want to sport the look (or an awesome framed souvenir)? This is for you!
T-shirts- $25! For those who want an extra one; not able to make it to the event, but still want a shirt, etc...

You're a local and can't make it out for the full 3 day event, but still want to play? These options are for you!
A la carte:
Car show entry (doesn't have to be a Shelby!)- $20
Spectating at the track- $10
Poker Chip Run participation- $10

We will email you back your total and you can PayPal it, or we can work out an alternate form of payment. If you are planning on doing any of the A La Carte options, please bring cash to the event to simplify the payments. Remember ALL PROFITS are being donated to the Carroll Shelby Foundation!

 

Hotels:

We do not have a set host hotel since no activities will be taking place there, but activities based in the Mid America complex in Council Bluffs, IA which has a wide range of hotel options. We have secured a block of rooms at a discount at the Holiday Inn (see instructions below). If you wish to stay somewhere with covered parking the Hilton Garden Inn (712-309-9000) is attached to the Horseshoe Casino and they have a very nice parking garage in the case of inclement weather. I know several attendees have already booked rooms there. There are also multiple hotels in downtown Omaha with parking garages and they are only a few minutes away.

There are two types of rooms within this block.  There are rooms with one king bed and rooms with two queen beds.  The rate for both room types is $119.00 plus tax.
