I am not local - 2 hours away - I might be driving daily. It depends if my parents go to Carlisle one day or not

Fun fact:

Carlisle becomes the 3rd largest city in PA over Ford weekend!

It goes from a quaint historic town of about 25K to WELL over 150K with participants, owners, vendors and spectators.

Carry on...

Geez , I am sooo ready for this epic event!! Plus unlike you guys I have to drive by the empty showfield almost daily. It's torture!

For the track folks. Here is a friend of mine running at summit point. He is a very talented and smooth driver and if you want to watch the proper way to get around summit and start memorizing the track, this is the video to watch. Sorry it is P-cars and not Shelby's but the only other stang video where the driver was running the proper line was a Roush. Couldn't post that! Enjoy. Come on Spring!

All booked for both events. Didn't pick host hotel in Carlisle as I didn't see any events happening at hotel. Did I miss something?

Also didn't book parade but might. At first thought it would be more fun to be a spectator but am having second thoughts that maybe driving in parade is the way to go. Input is welcome on this thought!!

Question: I have posted before and saw some feedback but never a definitive answer. Have any arangements been made for those of us who have verts without protection rails to drive at Summit if we promise to be good boys with our toys and not exceed a specified speed?

Would sure love to drive my car on the track............................

Sorry Cliff, no verts without proper roll bar. These are the track rules. FYI - all the tracks rules are listed on the tracks web site for those that may be looking for them. Thanks for the support of the event. You will not be disappointed.

Parade is a unique event. The roads are closed and we do a little parade into the town where we park the cars in the middle of the road for all to enjoy and have a blast for a couple of hours in town enjoying food/drink and the downtown atmosphere. Roads are closed for the post parade event. Ford has a stage and music is playing and Ford and Carlisle VIP's are on hand. I drove John's Pace car last year and it was a great time. I'm sure others will chime in. If you want to enjoy the parade but not drive in the parade, you could hop into someone's car to get a lift down town.

I think the parade sold out last year so if you are on the fence you may want to register (and pay the $10) just to hold you a spot.

Hey Cliff,

I'll answer the Carlisle questions. First Carlisle is a great historic town that really explodes over Ford weekend. There will be around 3,000 + Fords on display and tens of thousands of participants. Most of the hotels are "economy" motels and attract the 18-24 year old party crowd. Every single year there are either arrests (usually alcohol and or drug related) and accidents in the motel parking lots. There are several stories each year at these place that start with " hey dude, watch this.." and end up with cars in pieces in the parking lots.

We choose the host hotel after closely looking at the logistics of parking hundreds of Shelbys in a single area. Our main concerns were security and peace of mind. Since we have the entire hotel there will only be shelbys (and related tow/driving vehicles) there. We have also arranged for full 24 hour security at the hotel. They understand the need for complete security when parking millions of dollars worth of high end cars in a single lot. The hotel is also the nicest hotel in the greater Carlisle area. It's really your choice and YMMV but I strongly suggest staying at the Radisson for the above reasons.

As far as the parade goes : being a spectator is like being a spectator only at a car show. It's not a normal parade. First all the streets in Carlisle are closed off then we get a police escort to drive downtown where the cars are parked in the middle of the streets. Bands, vendors and food establishments then open for the parade participants while the parked cars become basically a 400 count "mini-Carlisle" car show. I fully expect the majority of the 400 in the parade to be Shelbys. It's so much more fun to drive and stage your car than just watch. Especially this year with the 50th celebration and the world record count having taken place that morning. Expect major media outlets to be covering the parade and party.

Tony beat me to it! :hysterical2:

Okay guys your changing my mind. Never been to Carlisle and sounds like the only way to enjoy it is be at the right place at right time. I have arranged many events (not this size) for some trade organizations and know and understand the work that goes into it. Tony and everyone have worked very hard to arrange this and with the added thoughts about security, etc., are trying to leave no rocks un-turned. Appreciate the hard work to all of you because an event this large is tough to orchestrate and every member should give them a big round of applause because it is also very time consuming and at times frustrating.........

Hopefully the cars will be safe on the street while were all walking around and enjoying the festivities. Might leave my top up so no drunks lean over to look inside the car while not paying attention and their beer decides to lean over also.

Thanks for answers everyone.

As to driving on track no big deal. Darn good reason to buy another Shelby,,,,,,,maybe the 2013. LOL ------- Just tell my wife..........HUNNY I NEED TO BECAUSE>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Booked my room at the Rad, registered for Carlisle, now trying to decide on what packkage to go with. I'm leaning torward #3 and was wondering if i could meet up with the TS Poker Run at Quarter Aces on Friday? Is there an estimated time of arrival at the track? I would be leaving from the Poconos in NE Pa. and could time my trip to arrive about the same time.

I am not clear on the whole hotel arraingement. Was it included with our entry fee? How do we get a room at the hotel with all the Shelby owners as stated above? What hotel is it?

F M

Hotels are not included in entry fee. There are hotels in Winchester (2) and one in Carlisle that we have rooms blocked off for TS members but booking and payment is up to each registrant. All the info is on the TS Northeast web site. Link is in post #1.

Thanks for your support.

Thanks Cliff for your support. John deserves the credit. He is the leader, producer and director. Andy and I and many others are loyal soldiers and part of a team. This is a huge undertaking and hundreds of hours have been invested in planning and security so all of us can enjoy a memorable event. It's gonna be special.

You will be in great hands with the SP instructors. Prepare to have the time of your life. Running on a road course, at speed, can be an adrenaline pumping event - and also very addicting. While it may be your 1st event I'd bet it will not be your last. Make sure you stop me and say Yo at the track.

Details regarding itinerary are yet to be finalized but anyone with package 2 thru 4 can go to the drag strip and meet up with the group.

Okay done deal. Talked the rest of the gang into moving to the host hotel. Booked 3 rooms today at the Rad for our party.

Scott will register our 3 cars for the parade.

Thanks for the input everyone and I look forward to putting some faces with the names.

Plenty of trailer parking at the Rad, In fact we will have a dedicated trailer parking area. Exact timing of Grand entrance to Carlisle is still to be planned.

We are still very early in the details of the specific timing of each event.

The current estimate is to stage outside of Carlisle around 930 - 1030AM. The plan is to line up and make the grand entrance around 11 AM. We will make the entrance around 11 AM those who will be going to the drag strip will then line up for the caravan to the drag strip around 12 noon.

Jim, looking forward to meeting you and all the other track hounds. This will probably be my second track event

as I'm trying to get to Lime Rock before that date. My experience is autocross, but I'm branching out this year. Tony

and the others could give you a bunch more prep advice, but the only thing that really will matter is brakes. Upgrading

pads and/or rotors will be the most help. After that as I learned in autocross, the most important thing will be upgrading

the driver. Everything else can wait until your next event. So I am glad they are doing this right by getting as much

instruction lined up as possible.

Andy, Will we be driving back to the hotel on a nightly basis and will we then have our positions reserved on the fairgrounds or will we be leaving our cars on the grounds overnight?

That's entirely up to you. The showgrounds are fenced in and secured in case you would want to leave them there overnight. Or you can drive them back to the hotel each night. You'll find it's about a 70-30 mix. 70% drive them back each night and about 30% leave at the showgrounds each night.

I've done both in the past and have zero issues with either option. If you do drive it back , you may not get the exact same spot but will be still in "Times square" aka Shelbyville! :)

That's what I anticipated as I've been to Carlisle many times but not as a "show-er" (except last year, outside the gate).

Thank you sir!
