LETTER TO CONGRESSMAN AND SENITORS

Recommended Posts

I just sent this letter to my Congressmen and Senitors with a copy to Mr. Obama.

Sir:

I am a constituent of your district and a disabled military veteran. I am deeply concerned by the effort to push health care reform into law.

This is an issue that must be approached with great caution. I have lived all over the world and have firsthand knowledge of other systems. Every country I have visited has had people trying to get into the United States just for the quality of it health care. I have seen the stack of paper that makes up the new bill. I do not want my representative to sign a bill on this critical subject that has not been read word for word and the ramifications of those words thought thru.

If it takes three to four years to make good changes to our system that would be far superior to rushing into a political decision.

Even thow I do NOT support this bill in any way. I am sick of politicans having thier staff read bills for them and telling them how to vote or in this case not reading it at all. We need them to do there JOB.

I do understand your concern about rushing bills to pass, we are still suffering from the patriotic bill that was passed into laws to invade privacy rather than protect the country.

The American Nurses Association, and the American Medical Association, have read the bill and has signed on in support. If Doctors and Nurses like it, while it may not be perfect, and nothing is, I'm open to giving it a chance. The insurance company trade group is out against it. I guess as they say in the debate people should be able to take the advice of their doctor and not the insurance companies, so I guess in this case I will! :hysterical:

Hey, we've been messing around with this and researching, talking about options for decades, I'd say we for sure haven't rushed. The system is broken and going to bankrupt the country and it makes US companies less competitive. It's a ticking bomb, like the housing bubble, and eventually it will collapse.

This is the first bill to be sent out, it will be amended, and if it passes goes to the Senate where they will craft their version, and then the bills will be combined and then another vote. So still much can and will change. If it is approved there will be changes as issues or new ideas will be identified through the years. It's not like we get this and that's it forever or something. It's a start.

Buy hey, while we may not agree, as a fellow disabled veteran, I salute you and thank you for your service!

ObamaCare to make Private Health Care ILLEGAL!

July 17th, 2009 It’s Not An Option

By INVESTOR’S BUSINESS DAILY

Congress: It didn’t take long to run into an “uh-oh” moment when reading the House’s “health care for all Americans” bill. Right there on Page 16 is a provision making individual private medical insurance illegal.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

IBD Exclusive Series: Government-Run Healthcare: A Prescription For Failure

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When we first saw the paragraph Tuesday, just after the 1,018-page document was released, we thought we surely must be misreading it. So we sought help from the House Ways and Means Committee.

It turns out we were right: The provision would indeed outlaw individual private coverage. Under the Orwellian header of “Protecting The Choice To Keep Current Coverage,” the “Limitation On New Enrollment” section of the bill clearly states:

“Except as provided in this paragraph, the individual health insurance issuer offering such coverage does not enroll any individual in such coverage if the first effective date of coverage is on or after the first day” of the year the legislation becomes law.

So we can all keep our coverage, just as promised — with, of course, exceptions: Those who currently have private individual coverage won’t be able to change it. Nor will those who leave a company to work for themselves be free to buy individual plans from private carriers.

From the beginning, opponents of the public option plan have warned that if the government gets into the business of offering subsidized health insurance coverage, the private insurance market will wither. Drawn by a public option that will be 30% to 40% cheaper than their current premiums because taxpayers will be funding it, employers will gladly scrap their private plans and go with Washington’s coverage.

The nonpartisan Lewin Group estimated in April that 120 million or more Americans could lose their group coverage at work and end up in such a program. That would leave private carriers with 50 million or fewer customers. This could cause the market to, as Lewin Vice President John Sheils put it, “fizzle out altogether.”

What wasn’t known until now is that the bill itself will kill the market for private individual coverage by not letting any new policies be written after the public option becomes law.

The legislation is also likely to finish off health savings accounts, a goal that Democrats have had for years. They want to crush that alternative because nothing gives individuals more control over their medical care, and the government less, than HSAs.

With HSAs out of the way, a key obstacle to the left’s expansion of the welfare state will be removed.

The public option won’t be an option for many, but rather a mandate for buying government care. A free people should be outraged at this advance of soft tyranny.

Washington does not have the constitutional or moral authority to outlaw private markets in which parties voluntarily participate. It shouldn’t be killing business opportunities, or limiting choices, or legislating major changes in Americans’ lives.

It took just 16 pages of reading to find this naked attempt by the political powers to increase their reach. It’s scary to think how many more breaches of liberty we’ll come across in the final 1,002.

Columbo says it better

We all love Columbo. This is going to make you smile:

columbo.jpg

Excuse me President Obama, Sir. Um . . I know you’re busy, and important and stuff. I mean, running the county is very important and — ah — I hate to bother you, Sir. I will only take a minute. Ok, Sir?

See, I have these missing pieces that are holding me up, and I was wondering, Sir, if you could take time out of your busy schedule and help me out. You know, no big deal, just some loose ends and things.

So… well, listen, anyway, I can’t seem to get some information I need to wrap this up. These things seem to either be “Not released” or “Not available.” I’m sure it’s just an oversight or glitch or something, so if you could you tell me where these things are — I — I have them written down here somewhere — oh wait.

Sorry, about the ink stains, it was raining out. Could you please help me find these things, Sir?

1. Occidental College records — Not released

2. Columbia College records — Not released

3. Columbia Thesis paper — “Not available”

4.. Harvard College records — Not released

5. Selective Service Registration — Not released

6. Medical records — Not released

7. Illinois State Senate schedule — Not available

8. Your Illinois State Senate records — Not available

9. Law practice client list — Not released

10. Certified Copy of original Birth certificate — Not released

11. Embossed, signed paper Certification of Live Birth — Not released

12. Record of your baptism — Not available

Oh and one more thing Mr. President, I can’t seem to find any articles you published as editor of the Harvard Law Review, or as a Professor at the University of Chicago. Can you explain that to me, Sir?

Oh, but hey — listen! I know you’re busy! If this is too much for you right now — I mean — tell you what. I’ll come back tomorrow. Give you some time to get these things together, you know? I mean, I know you’re busy. I’ll just let myself out. I’ll be back tomorrow.

And the day after. . .

What’s that Mr. President? Who wants to know these things? People of the United States,

You know, the ones that vote !!

I think people need a good laugh right now and Peter Falk’s charater Columbo makes the satire vividly come alive. Whoever produced this, thanks! We should also extend our best wishes to Peter Falk and his family. Peter has been seriously ill for a number of months now.

I don't care who supports it, this so-called "reform" bill is going to increase taxes, worsen the economy when we can least afford to do so, and lead to selective healthcare. It is also pro-abortion and will also lead to legal human euthanization. Anyone middle-aged and up should be temendously concerned about the selective healthcare and euthanization aspects. Blacks should be expecially concerned about pro-abortion as over 50% of abortions are black (which is what the original pro-abortion founders intended). Your President, Congressmen and Senators don't have to worry because they won't be subject to it. There is absolutely NOTHING good about so-called "health reform". Hopefully it won't pass, but if it does, wait and see!

I think you got it backwards. How could THE system bankrupt the country? I think dumping money, we dont have, into a system that has failed and is currently not working in other countries, will do a better job bankrupting the country.

Who's "we"? Hillary? I and my whole family has health care. While I'm not completely inured to the legitimate plight of good people that have no health care, I don't think I should have to pay for a system that will not work and will simply be used to create another ineffective layer of Government Bureaucracy.

How can not spending money we don't have bankrupt the country?

This is not like the "housing bubble"... Yet!

I'm alarmed by the amount of Americans that drink the swill just because it comes from the current administrations' cup.

I watched a Canadian doctor on TV this weekend. He said we would be utter fools to move towards a government run single payer health care system. He states that rationing is severe and that people die there every day waiting for procedures they could get tomorrow if they lived in the U.S. There are actually companies in Canada that specialize in finding doctors outside of Canada for people who need treatment right away but can not get it there.

Less government in my life, the better I like it. This is nothing more then another grab for power by the federal government. Just another notch in lowering our standards to that of many other 3rd world countries and their socialistic ideas.

And, like we can afford it.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. This Health Care Bill will be abused by illegals and others willing to take advantage of the system. And who will foot the bill? Everyone on this forum.

If this is such a great idea stop and talk to any senior citizen and ask them how well Medicare works for them. After that, talk to any politician from England and ask them what socialized medicine did to their country.

I have nothing against affordable Health Care. I just don't feel that the Bill on the floor is the answer. Obama is in too much of a hot a$$ hurry to get this pushed through. And we all know what happens when we rush something. Mistakes are made.

Illegals are already abusing the system. Hospitals have to provide care and they pass the cost to us.

This is all a pipe dream, the gov is just blowing smoke up your a$$es, there is too much money involved for the hospitals and clinics in this country just to say ok to national health care. If something does happen it will be as usual, Joe Blow average american will end up paying big time, and still have crappy coverage, nothing will change.
