GT500-07
Here's one for you SD, LET'S IMPEACH HER NOW BEFORE SHE DOES FURTHER DAMAGE!! WHAT AN IDIOT!! Windfall Tax on Retirement Income Adding a tax to your retirement is simply another way of saying to the American people, you're so darn stupid that we're going to keep doing this until we drain every cent from you. That's what the Speaker of the House is saying. Read below............... Nancy Pelosi wants a Windfall Tax on Retirement Income. In other words tax what you have made by investing toward your retirement. This woman is a nut case! You aren't going to believe this. Madam speaker Nancy Pelosi wants to put a Windfall Tax on all stock market profits (including Retirement fund, 401K and Mutual Funds! Alas, it is true - all to help the 12 Million Illegal Immigrants and other unemployed Minorities! This woman is frightening. She quotes...' We need to work toward the goal of equalizing income, (didn't Marx say something like this?), in our country and at the same time limiting the amount the rich can invest.' (I am not rich, are you?) When asked how these new tax dollars would be spent, she replied: 'We need to raise the standard of living of our poor, unemployed and minorities. For example, we have an estimated 12 million illegal immigrants in our country who need our help along with millions of unemployed minorities. Stock market windfall profits taxes could go a long way to guarantee these people the standard of living they would like to have as 'Americans'.' (Read that quote again and again and let it sink in.) 'Lower your retirement, give it to others who have not worked as you have for it'. Send it on to your friends. I just did!! This lady is out of her mind and she is the speaker of the house! ejrail
What is wrong with these do good liberals?? The key word here is "illegal". It should be black and white. You are either illegal, a criminal, or legal, a citizen. Can I pick and choose which laws I like and work for me?? Why in the h should we support and condone the actions of these people. If they weren't here, our uneployment would be lower as well as all of the amount spent on all of these government hand outs. Look at the statistics on who is clogging our courts and jails, at our taxpayer's expense. We need to be lookng out for the legal, hard working folks who have fallenon hard trimes thru no fault of their own. How convenient we can't vote somebody like her out. grsybtch
Trust me, I'm no fan of comrade Pelosi, but this story is BS. Google "Nancy Pelosi windfall tax" and the first five or six results are from sites like snopes and urban legends. Let's not stoop to the levels of the nut jobs in the media and spread BS. Our gov't seems to do and say enough outrageous stuff that's unfortunately true.

ShelbyDude
When the government violates your rights you have the right to petition the government for grievances. Until the government answers your petition you have the right to withhold all your tax dollars until the government responds and answers your petition for grievances. “If money is wanted by Rulers who have in any manner oppressed the People, they may retain it until their grievances are redressed, and thus peaceably procure relief, without trusting to despised petitions or disturbing the public tranquility.” 1774, Journals of the Continental Congress, 1:105-113 Time for all Americans to stand up and sign the petitions and withhold their money until the government answers. sportscars
Me, personally, would be VERY hesitant to "withhold" money (i.e. taxes) from the Gov't. While you MAY prevail in the end, you need to be damn sure that you are willing to go thru hell to get to the other side. And even if you get to the other side you may or may not be made whole again. The Journals of the Continental Congress are different then the Constitution. They are not law. They are notes on what happened and what was said. I believe the above quote appeared in a letter to the people of Canada if I remember correctly. Although I agree with your passion here SD! They put people in jail when convicted of it.

Although I have had a new way for you to not pay taxes legally...don't make any money. Don't make any money??? When did money become taxable? I thought INCOME was taxable? Income as in, GAIN, PROFIT? I don't earn any GAIN or PROFIT. So why am I being taxed if I don't have any GAINS or PROFITS?
ShelbyDude
The government also has a legal term for people that withhold their tax dollars. It's called income tax evasion. They put people in jail when convicted of it. Evasion is where you HIDE "TAXABLE INCOME" and don't report it. Big difference. They don't put people in jail for not paying. Only if you have TAXABLE INCOME and you get caught trying to hide it and failing to report it. If you even file a return, report it, but do not pay it....they won't put you in jail. You can't go to jail for not paying. Although they will just come and take everything you have, file liens against you, garnish your wages, etc., without due process of law. The constitution does not grant congress any NEW taxing powers. The 16th amendment states congress can tax INCOME. Define the meaning of INCOME? What does the tax code define INCOME as? Oops! It doesn't! The supreme court does. The supreme court has defined income as GAINS. The supreme court has also defined wages earned in exchange for personal labor as PERSONAL PROPERTY. Personal property is not a GAIN. It is not INCOME under the definition of taxable income.

sportscars
Dubbs, what are you trying to say here? Do I need to send someone an email from my work computer? ShelbyDude, the dictionary defines income this way: noun - the monetary payment received for goods or services, or from other sources, as rents or investments. Antonyms: 1. outgo, expenditure. Services would be what you provide your employer (if not self imployed) in exchange for your paycheck. Therefore income would be any monies you receive from working. Wesley Snipes tried the same argument. Ask him how that worked out for him. No one likes paying taxes. I am against any new tax! I am for less spending by the gov't. But since I want a guy at the border with a big gun AND I want a cop/fireman/ambulance at my house when I call 911 AND I want terrorists in this or another country to not wake up tomorrow, I will pay my taxes and thank God I get what I get for them. The only way I would condone NOT paying taxes is if you agreed to receive nothing in return from Uncle Sam. No police, no military, no firefighters, no EMS, no GPS, etc... Just my $.
