Quite an impressive list  Living near The City has it perks. We don't get as many of the big ones here. It is getting better than when we first moved here. Our closest hot spot is Vegas but we can't afford that too often

My Dad got tickets for Kiss for me and my brother (14) when I was 12,

we went to the Garden by ourselves for the first time.

He came home without me cause I got backstage.

I caught the bug & never looked back.

It helped having an older brother.

All the big shows stop here, We are lucky in that regard.

My brother in Orlando has to travel to Tampa or even Miami to catch

alot of stuff....

and you missed the ones I remembered at lunch, I updated the post.

You on the other hand my friend caught some outstanding stuff...

Jimi

JJ

Byrds

Arlo

Jefferson Airplane

CCR.

Back in my High School Days I saw 38 Special BUT, back when I was Married, My Ex took me to see the Moody Blues. Not to crazy about their CD's but GREAT Band to see Live. I highly recommend seeing them Live if you have a chance. They have not been back to Tallahassee in over 10 Years.

I have a "must see" list in my head and the Moody Blues are way on top. They played Salt Lake years ago and people still talk about it. Also on this list are Tom Petty and John Fogerty without CCR.

Janis Joplin played my college homecoming in the fall of '69. We were hanging out on the corner one night, again, when a friend drove up and said he had 2 Jimi tickets for the Specturm in Philly he couldn't use. He gave them to us for free.

My best friend since 2nd grade was a music minor at Rutgers. Some artists playing the Garden would do a "stealth" show at Rutgers, as a dress rehersal, for the music department. These were literally like a one or two hour notice deal. I would get a "drop everything" call to get to an an address in or near campus from my friend. The shows were very intimate with stops and do overs. We saw Arlo when City of New Orleans was his big hit, in a room that held abut 50 people, a piano and a bar stool. He played for a few hours, told stories about the songs and took as many questions as we could come up with. The Airplane was a larger more formal show. They were louder than the drags. I couldn't hear for 3 days!

I forgot to mention we saw Country Joe and The Fish, fresh from Woodstock, at Princeton University by accident. Remember "gimme an F"? We were killing time before a movie and heard live music coming from a hall across from the theater. Naturally we had to check it out. Nobody was taking tickets so we just walked in and enjoyed a free show. Never did see the movie.

We went to see Willie outdoors at Robert Redford's Sundance Ski Resort in Utah in 1978. $30 per carload. We were the first ones there and got front row center log benches. A semi backed up to the stage. The driver hung out for a while, came over and asked us if we had seen a bus full of roadies. Apparently they got lost. The CB wouldn't work in the canyons and cell phones weren't invented yet. He said they would pay our way if we got the truck unloaded. There was also a huge cooler of Lone star in the nose of the trailer that was ours if we got to it. Enough said. It was all a :censored: s and elbows. The tour bus arrived and the band members had us arrange their instruments and sound and light boards they right way. We found the Lone Star and all I can say is they must do things big in Texas. This "cooler" was as wide as the trailer, about 3 feet deep and 3 feet wide  While we were enjoying our well earned beer, Willie came out of his bus and asked us what we paid to get in. We told him and he told his road manager to "pay those boys whatever they need." He then personally thanked each of us. I still have an unopened Lone Star he handed me and his autograph on one of my blank personal checks where the signature goes. It was the only paper I had on me. Robert Redford sat across from us during the show. He and Willie are personal friends and had just finished The Electric Horseman movie together.
