Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Laura Brown confirmed the plane was reportedly stolen from a flight school in Thunder Bay, Canada. Brown said the pilot of the aircraft, identified as a student at the flight school, was not communicating with air traffic controllers. The pilot showed no sign of hostile intent, Brown said, and authorities planned to continue tracking the plane. The plane was being tracked by U.S. aircraft in the area of Duluth, Minnesota, Brown said. A U.S. defense official told CNN that two U.S. Air Force F-16 jets were dispatched after Canadian authorities requested that U.S. aircraft tail the plane in U.S. air space.
