mywickedshelby
One foot on the brake and one on the gas, hey!Well, there's too much traffic, I can't pass, no! So I tried my best illegal move A big black and white come and crushed my groove again! CHORUS: Go on & write me up for 125 Post my face, wanted dead or alive Take my license n' all that jive I can't drive É 55! Oh No! Uh! So I signed my name on number 24, hey! Yeah the judge said, "Boy, just one more I'm gonna throw your ass in the city joint" Looked me in the eye, said, "You get my point?" I said "Yeah!, Oh yea!" CHORUS II: Write me up for 125 Post my face, wanted dead or alive Take my license, all that jive I can't drive É 55! Oh, yea! I can't drive 55! (four times) Uh! (Solo) When I drive that slow, you know it's hard to steer. And I can't get my car out of second gear. What used to take two hours now takes all day. Huh - It took me 16 hours to get to L.A.! CHORUS: Go on & write me up for 125 Post my face, wanted dead or alive Take my license n' all that jive I can't drive 55! No, no, no, I can't drive...(I can't drive 55!) I can't drive... Cali_KR
Triumph - Fight the Good Fight The days grow shorter and the nights are getting long Feels like we're running out of time Every day it seems much harder tellin' right from wrong You got to read between the lines Don't get discouraged, don't be afraid, we can Make it through another day Make it worth the price we pay The Good Book says it's better to give than to receive I do my best to do my part Nothin' in my pockets I got nothin' up my sleeve I keep my magic in my heart Keep up your spirit, keep up your faith, baby I am counting on you You know what you've got to do CHORUS: Fight the good fight every moment Every minute every day Fight the good fight every moment It's your only way All your life you've been waiting for your chance Where you'll fit into the plan But you're the master of your own destiny So give and take the best that you can You think a little more money will buy your soul some rest You'd better think of something else instead You're so afraid of being honest with yourself You'd better take a look inside your head Nothing is easy, nothing good is free But I can tell you where to start Take a look inside your heart There's an answer in your heart CHORUS Very nice, I've always appreciated the second best power trio to come out of Canada. Cali_KR
Our first stop is in Bogata To check the Colombian fields The Natives smile an pass along A sample of their yield Sweet Jamaican pipe dreams Golden Acapulco nights Then Morocco, and the East Fly by morning light (chorus) We're on the train to Bangkok Aboard the Thailand Express We'll hit the stops along the way We only stop for the best Wreathed in smoke in Lebanon We burn the midnight oil The fragrance of Afghanistan Rewards a long days toil Pulling into katmandu Smoke rings fill the air Perfumed by a Nepal night The Express gets you there (chorus) Listen to this in my own purple haze throughout high school in the late 70's RUSH, A Passage to Bangkok
jdscooby
Another great Rush song My uncle has a country place, that no one knows about He says it used to be a farm, before the motor law And on sundays I elude the eyes and hop the turbine freight To far outside the wire, where my white-haired uncle waits. Jump to the ground As the turbo slows to cross the borderline Run like the wind, As excitement shivers up and down my spine Down in his barn My uncle preserved for me, an old machine --- For fifty-odd years To keep it as new has been his dearest dream I strip away the old debris, that hides a shining car A brilliant red barchetta, from a better, vanished time I fire up the willing engine, responding with a roar Tires spitting gravel, I commit my weekly crime... Wind in my hair --- Shifting and drifting --- Mechanical music --- Adrenalin surge --- Well-weathered leather Hot metal and oil The scented country air Sunlight on chrome The blur of the landscape Every nerve aware Suddenly, ahead of me, across the mountainside A gleaming alloy air-car shoots towards me, two lanes wide I spin around with shrieking tires, to run the deadly race Go screaming through the valley as another joins the chase Drive like the wind Straining the limits of machine and man Laughing out loud With fear and hope, Ive got a desperate plan At the one-lane bridge I leave the giants stranded At the riverside Race back to the farm To dream with my uncle At the fireside... A smile from a veil? Do you think you can tell? And did they get you to trade Your heros for ghosts? Hot ashes for trees? Hot air for a cool breeze? Cold comfort for change? And did you exchange A walk on part in the war For a lead role in a cage? How I wish, how I wish you were here. turnsignaldelete
"Take It to The Limit" EAGLES One of my 'Road Trip' songs on disk All alone at the end of the of the evening And the bright lights have faded to blue I was thinking bout a woman who might have Loved me and I never knew You know Ive always been a dreamer (spent my life running round) And its so hard to change (cant seem to settle down) But the dreams Ive seen lately Keep on turning out and burning out And turning out the same So put me on a highway And show me a sign And take it to the limit one more time You can spend all your time making money You can spend all your love making time If it all fell to pieces tomorrow Would you still be mine? And when youre looking for your freedom (nobody seems to care) And you cant find the door (cant find it anywhere) When theres nothing to believe in Still youre coming back, youre running back Youre coming back for more So put me on a highway And show me a sign And take it to the limit one more time Take it to the limit Take it to the limit Take it to the limit one more time

kstrong
My Mum loved this song and this guy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gvmyTZEqlo8 She's A Lady" Well she's all you'd ever want, She's the kind they'd like to flaunt and take to dinner. Well she always knows her place. She's got style, she's got grace, She's a winner. She's a Lady. Whoa whoa whoa, She's a Lady. Talkin' about that little lady, and the lady is mine. Well she's never in the way Always something nice to say, Oh what a blessing. I can leave her on her own Knowing she's okay alone, and there's no messing. She's a lady. Whoa, whoa, whoa. She's a lady. Talkin' about that little lady, and the lady is mine. Well she never asks for very much and I don't refuse her. Always treat her with respect, I never would abuse her. What she's got is hard to find, and I don't want to lose her Help me build a mountain from my little pile of clay. Hey, hey, hey. Well she knows what I'm about, She can take what I dish out, and that's not easy, Well she knows me through and through, She knows just what to do, and how to please me. She's a lady. Whoa, whoa, whoa. She's a lady. Talkin' about that little lady and the lady is mine. Yeah yeah yeah She's a Lady Listen to me baby, She's a Lady Whoa whoa whoa, She's a Lady And the Lady is mine Yeah yeah yeah She's a Lady Talkin about this little lady Whoa whoa whoa whoa Whoa and the lady is mine Yeah yeah She's a Lady And the Lady is mine. kstrong
When the weathers nice, Supertramp! So you think you're a Romeo playing a part in a picture-show Take the long way home Take the long way home 'Cus you're the joke of the neighborhood Why should you care if you're feeling good Take the long way home Take the long way home But there are times that you feel you're part of the scenery aaaall the greenery is comin' down, boy And then your wife seems to think you're part of the furniture ,ooohhh it's peculiar, she used to be so nice. When lonely days turn to lonely nights you take a trip to the city lights And take the long way home Take the long way home You never see what you want to see Forever playing to the gallery You take the long way home Take the long way home And when you're up on the stage, it's so unbelievable, oooohhh, unforgettable, how they adore you, But then your wife seems to think you're losing your sanity, oh, calamity, is there no way out? ooohh, Yea!! Does it feel that your life's become a catastrophe? Oooohh, it has to be for you to grow, boy. When you look through the years and see what you could have been oh, what might have been, if you'd had more time. So, when the day comes to settle down, Who's to blame if you're not around? You took the long way home You took the long way home You took the long way home You took the long way home You took the long way home You took the long way home You took the long way home You took the long way home Long way home.. jdscooby
This song gives me chills every time I hear it. Wreck of The Edmond Fitzgerald by Gordon Lightfoot The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down Of the big lake they call Gitche Gumee The lake, it is said, never gives up her dead When the skies of November turn gloomy. With a load of iron ore - 26,000 tons more Than the Edmund Fitzgerald weighed empty That good ship and true was a bone to be chewed When the gales of November came early The ship was the pride of the American side Coming back from some mill in Wisconson As the big freighters go it was bigger than most With a crew and the Captain well seasoned. Concluding some terms with a couple of steel firms When they left fully loaded for Cleveland And later that night when the ships bell rang Could it be the North Wind they'd been feeling. The wind in the wires made a tattletale sound And a wave broke over the railing And every man knew, as the Captain did, too, T'was the witch of November come stealing. The dawn came late and the breakfast had to wait When the gales of November came slashing When afternoon came it was freezing rain In the face of a hurricane West Wind When supper time came the old cook came on deck Saying fellows it's too rough to feed ya At 7PM a main hatchway caved in He said fellas it's been good to know ya. The Captain wired in he had water coming in And the good ship and crew was in peril And later that night when his lights went out of sight Came the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald. Does anyone know where the love of God goes When the words turn the minutes to hours The searchers all say they'd have made Whitefish Bay If they'd fifteen more miles behind her. They might have split up or they might have capsized They may have broke deep and took water And all that remains is the faces and the names Of the wives and the sons and the daughters. Lake Huron rolls, Superior sings In the ruins of her ice water mansion Old Michigan steams like a young man's dreams, The islands and bays are for sportsmen. And farther below Lake Ontario Takes in what Lake Erie can send her And the iron boats go as the mariners all know With the gales of November remembered. In a musty old hall in Detroit they prayed In the Maritime Sailors' Cathedral The church bell chimed, 'til it rang 29 times For each man on the Edmund Fitzgerald. The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down Of the big lake they call Gitche Gumee Superior, they say, never gives up her dead When the gales of November come early. turnsignaldelete
Hey, Little Cobra Hey, Little Cobra, don't you know you're gonna to shut 'em down I took my Cobra down to the track, hitched to the back of my Cadillac, Everyone was there just a waiting for me There were plenty of Stingrays and XKEs, Spring little Cobra getting ready to strike Spring Little Cobra with all your might Spring little Cobra getting ready to strike Spring Little Cobra with all your might Hey, Little Cobra, don't you know you are going to shut them down When the flag went down, you could hear rubber burn, The Stingray pulled me going into the turn I hung a big shift, and I got into high, When I when I flew by the Stingray, I waved bye bye. Spring little Cobra getting ready to strike Spring Little Cobra with all your might Spring little Cobra getting ready to strike Spring Little Cobra with all your might Hey, Little Cobra, Don't you know you are going to shut 'em down Around the turn into the straight away I was blowing off everything that got in my way, Stingrays and Jags were so far behind I took my Cobra out of gear and let it coast to the line. Spring little Cobra getting ready to strike Spring Little Cobra with all your might Spring little Cobra getting ready to strike Spring Little Cobra with all your might Hey, Little Cobra, Don't you know you are going to shut 'em down Shut'em down, shut'em down, shut'em down... "Hey, Little Cobra" was written by Carol Conner in 1964. She apparently wrote "Hey, Little Cobra after she'd gone to Shelby American and purchased her very own Little Cobra. kstrong
This one goes without saying............... "There's a lady who's sure all that glitters is gold And she's buying a stairway to heaven. When she gets there she knows, if the stores are all closed With a word she can get what she came for. Ooh, ooh, and she's buying a stairway to heaven. There's a sign on the wall but she wants to be sure 'Cause you know sometimes words have two meanings. In a tree by the brook, there's a songbird who sings, Sometimes all of our thoughts are misgiven. Ooh, it makes me wonder, Ooh, it makes me wonder. There's a feeling I get when I look to the west, And my spirit is crying for leaving. In my thoughts I have seen rings of smoke through the trees, And the voices of those who standing looking. Ooh, it makes me wonder, Ooh, it really makes me wonder. And it's whispered that soon if we all call the tune Then the piper will lead us to reason. And a new day will dawn for those who stand long And the forests will echo with laughter. If there's a bustle in your hedgerow, don't be alarmed now, It's just a spring clean for the May queen. Yes, there are two paths you can go by, but in the long run There's still time to change the road you're on. And it makes me wonder. Your head is humming and it won't go, in case you don't know, The piper's calling you to join him, Dear lady, can you hear the wind blow, and did you know Your stairway lies on the whispering wind. And as we wind on down the road Our shadows taller than our soul. There walks a lady we all know Who shines white light and wants to show How everything still turns to gold. And if you listen very hard The tune will come to you at last. When all are one and one is all To be a rock and not to roll. And she's buying a stairway to heaven". :happy feet:

sportscars
Who started this gay thread? Any way how 'bout some good ol Texas music: Walt Wilkins - Poetry Some things I've done make my conscience burn My very spine shudder and burn I only hope that I've learned from my sins I heard a voice when I was thirteen Got baptized and wash up clean but the world has a way if you know what I mean of scuffing you up again. I cant explain a blessed thing not a falling star or a feathered wing or how a man in chains has the strength to sing. Just one thing is clear to me, there's always more than what appears to be when the light is just right I swear I see poetry. Now somebody made everything from the soul inside out to Saturn's rings how my baby smiles and how Ray Charles sings, of course we were created. The clouds make rain the ocean makes sand the earth breaths fire and lava makes land now that took a mighty hand and a wild imagination. I cant explain a blessed thing not a falling star or a feathered wing or how a man in chains has the strength to sing (like a bird). Just one thing is clear to me, there's always more than what appears to be when the light is just right I swear I see poetry. The dreams I've dreamed came back ten fold The friends I have, the woman I hold I look down and I'm on a street of gold after all the mud along the way Sometimes the big 'ol mystery just leans right in on me and whispers I am home and I am free and I'll take that anyday, anyday. I cant explain a blessed thing not a falling star or a feathered wing or how a man in chains has the strength to sing (I'll fly away). Just one thing is clear to me, there's always more than what appears to be when the light is just right I swear I see poetry.
mywickedshelby
Rush was the first rock concert I went to in the 80's. They sound great live, almost like listening to the album. Yes I said album. I saw them twice in the 80s (Nassau Colliseum & Radio City Music Hall) and again last summer. Just as tight as ever. Great band. DubbsFaris
I saw them twice in the 80s (Nassau Colliseum & Radio City Music Hall)and again last summer. Just as tight as ever. Great band. Rush was one of the few GREAT bands I've seen that I cant actually remember the concert...I was smashed! So then I saw them in 1994-95 again and Im glad I did...I think that was the start of me going to concerts sober, and if they were good I would stay that way...if they were bad, I would get wasted...LOL :happy feet:
