I think the problem is that politics and religion probably dont work well on a forum like this at all. If you have a section for it, we will still be at each others throats...its TMI..focuses us on the things we disagree on instead of the things we have in common...love of Sheby's and muscle cars and cars in general.

I don't mind the political posts at all. If I don't find anything of interest on the automotive side, I look for other stuff...actually I usually just look at the new posts and go into a forum that grabs my interests.

If the political and/or other then car posts are in a separate section from the car posts only...what is the problem?

Choosing what forum to read is a personal choice. I don't see a gun (or knife for anti-gun folks) against anyone's head or neck.

I believe this is just another liberal attempt at silencing conservative voices....sort of like the Fairness Doctrine

How dare someone tell another that because of their vote they are "traitors" to their country. This is America. We vote and they count them. Someone wins and someone loses. The stupid shit like above is ignorant at best.

Freedom of speech is the most fundamental right in a democratic society.

That means some people will say thing's you don't like, things you disagree with and even things you find offensive.

That is no reason to silence them.

All forms of censorship are unjust and undemocratic.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

USSR

The USSR constitution grants in citizens freedom of speech with this passage:

In conformity with the interests of the working people, and in order to strengthen the socialist system, the citizens of the USSR are guaranteed by law:

a. freedom of speech;

b. freedom of the press;

c. freedom of assembly, including the holding of mass meetings;

d. freedom of street processions and demonstrations.

These civil rights are ensured by placing at the disposal of the working people and their organizations printing presses, stocks of paper, public buildings, the streets, communications facilities and other material requisites for the exercise of these rights.

Note, that the "rights" granted to the citizens of the USSR are in fact a list of things that the government must do - The government must give you a job ... the government must give you health care ... the government must give you an education ... and (since the state owns all machinery) the government must give you a printing press for you to practice your freedom speech. But of course, if you aren't working "to strengthen the socialist system", don't hold your breath waiting for your printing press.

What I find sad about TSD and really all these right wingers is they want freedom, but not for everyone, just for those who agree with them. TSD thinks everyone that doesn't vote his way should be deported or imprisoned? That ain't freedom, thats autocracy. Not everyone agrees with you, in fact, MOST people in the country dont agree with you. Get used to it. The thuggish way some conduct themselves here is pathetic. Internet tough guys, a new one is born everyday.

The rightwing is eager to divide the country, they have been working that angle for a long time. By race, religion, demographics, class...that cancer is spreading everywhere, even here. What they dont know is, they wont win, their brand of garbage is dieing. They are turning an increasingly diverse population against them. Not all their ideas are bad, just most of them, but the way they are selling them is reprehensible.

Thats said, post as many crazy right wing topics as you want, as long as the moderators tolerate it and its negative effects on the Shelby brand. Hopefully the higher ups at SAI know that they may just alienate the future generation of Shelby enthusiast who might be more culturally diverse and really be disgusted by what they read here.

While I agree with the free speech angle, this is not a government site or a political discussion board like Politico, its owned by SAI/private parties. It is here to promote a brand. They have the right to censor and or remove what they want. If you want absolute freedom to spread trash, I suggest you get your own site.

Agreed. This is a car site, that is why I come here. With that said, friendly banter about life's issues is OK too. However, when it turns nasty, like calling someone a "traitor" for voting for someone is pretty rude and should not be tolerated. What if I called his wife a "whore"? would that be allowed? Where is the respect for your fellow American? Politics has turned vile and nasty and for some people no room for debate. It is either their way or the name calling begins. Why this is tolerated on a car site is beyond me. I do feel that it absolutely does have a negative effect on Shelby. I suppose his God is the best and only God too. Perhaps he will damn everyone to hell if they don't agree with him on that issue as well. If you don't like the current folks who are in office, then exercise your American right and vote them out; attacking someone with inflammatory words doesn't do anyone any good.

And your post is just another example of trying to shut something down, that relies on your own choosing to visit. What is it, a power struggle? Just because you don't like it, it should be taken down?

Enjoyment by citizens of their rights and freedoms must not be to the detriment

of the interests of society or the state, or infringe the rights of other citizens.

This is a private web site for cars. If SAI gets tired of the BS, they can shut it down.

While I would like to see them keep it open, I would support their right to shut it down...as you say, it is privately owned.

Of course the way this administration is going, they may decide to take it over so that it is government owned.

I don't mind them. Sometimes it is interesting getting other's points of view. True that I have pi$$ed a few people off. I usually apologize if I have posted and it ticked someone off. I have since tamed down my posts. The reason for this is because this site is like a family tree. (Sorry to steal from your post, Tim) I didn't join this site to irritate someone. I came here to meet friends and talk about cars and more. I myself am not going to hate someone for a political view. Hey...They're entitled to their opinions. I may not agree but should I happen to meet a member at a TS outing, I don't want them hating me for a political view either. Once the politics are put on the side we all have a common thread and that is a passion for Shelbys. I guess that's the bottom line. We ALL need to remember this before flaming someone.

Attention ALL Leftist, free speech meddlers.

In order to get to this Non-Automotive Topic, (No, not all threads are for Cars) , you have to make 5-6 Conscience decisions.

(Conscience = the inner sense of what is right or wrong in one's conduct or motives, impelling one toward right action: to follow the dictates of conscience.)

If you don't like the Topic you have chosen, then choose another by making, 5-6 other Conscience decisions to arrive at another Topic.

Stay out of Threads like this if you don't like them.

Please Do not try to stop others from, discussing Political/or? topics which you may or may not agree with. Leftist, (obama supporters) historically, have demonstrated a propensity for attempting to silence their opposition.

If you disagree with a poster, then fire back a re-brutal. But attempting to silence others is the method of tyrants. Long live free speech.

Facts are Facts Comrade

In his biography of Barack Obama, David Mendell writes about Obama’s life as a “secret smoker” and how he “went to great lengths to conceal the habit.” But what about Obama’s secret political life? It turns out that Obama’s childhood mentor, Frank Marshall Davis, was a communist.

Davis was a known communist who belonged to a party subservient to the Soviet Union. In fact, the 1951 report of the Commission on Subversive Activities to the Legislature of the Territory of Hawaii identified him as a CPUSA (Communist Party USA) member. What’s more, anti-communist congressional committees, including the House Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC), accused Davis of involvement in several communist-front organizations.
