After the wheels were changed it threw the TPMS fault display after about 20 miles of driving. Dealer went thru the procedure, cleared and reprogrammed. Drove it 22 miles today and it's back. There's a lot of 07 Mustangs out there that have had wheel changes, so whats my dealer missing?

I took my car to a dealer and asked them about the TPMS and turning it off. They told me that it was required by federal law and they can't touch it. I took it to a couple of tuners (had it dyno tuned) and they couldn't find any computer settings for it. Unless you cheat it (and there a few complicated methods to do so), you are stuck with pressing the reset button on the dash board. Even if you have the same size wheels (I don't as I now have 20" razors) the tires may not have the same pressure as stock. My new tires require 40 lbs of pressure so even if I had wheels that the sensors would fit, the TPMS would be telling me that the inflation was wrong. TPMS is perfect for a Prius but it can't handle aftermarket tires and aftermarket wheels.

You say the wheels were changed. Did they place new sensors and bands on the new wheels?

The sensors MUST be the right ones for the size wheel. They also as Per the FORD Instructions ,the Cradle is not supposed to be Reused which comes with the strap kit. So if you Were Changing from one style to another with 18"s you would need a Strap kit. The OE Straps Which Come on the Car are Not Reusable. However the Service Replacement Straps are a Worm Gear and Can Be Reused.

My wheels and tires were swapped out for factory polished ones on an 08 they had on the lot, as part of the deal per my request. Tires and sensors were left intact on the wheels they came on. Nothing was broke down and changed. They just swapped wheel/tire combo, so i ended up with different sensors. The dealer and myself thought the reprogram would take care of it. Apparently something is being overlooked. The orange warning light flashes until you move the car then it quits. The "tire pressure monitor fault" displays instead of the odometer all the time.

Thanks for the info Matt. I didn't have time to go thru it before my last post. The wife was hollering for me to get to the dinner table. :D
