Hey guys and gals-

Sorry, I've been a little absentee from the board for the last week, but here's the update.

#3012 arrived at the dealership 2 weeks ago Thursday (same day as Dave's-thanks again for the truck pics). I had the dealer install a GT500 spoiler, so I picked up last Thurday night-I didn't get her home until 11:30pm (was terrified I would hit a deer on the way home so drove like an old man!), then my life kicked back into reality and I worked FRI,SAT,SUN,MON,TUE-off WED and we had thunderstorms (washed it up really good in the garage that day though),worked THU, off FRI-beautiful sunny day!!! So,yesterday was the first day I got to dirve it for an exteded period-I now have a whopping 140 miles on it! Raining again today-darn! (haven't been able to wax it yet due to reasons below & don't want to deal with the water spots)

When we arrived at the dealership at 7:15pm to pick it up my six year old son had the biggest smile I've ever seen sprawled across his face. I've waited for/dreamed of a Shelby mustang my whole life and picking it up was not dissapointing. Seeing the car completed and in person for the first time was amazing! I couldn't wait to get the papers signed and on my way-the problem is that my salesman has been promoted to finance mgr and was in the middle of completing the paperwork on the 2 vehicles they had sold immediately prior to my arrival. Dealership closed at 8, but they finished up other 2 customers, then stayed with me as the only customer there until 10:30pm-went over the car with a fine toothed comb with me to find any defects (anyone with a black car and getting sequential tailights check around the lenses on the rear bumper for scratches!!)-I have a small scratch on the hood where the pin was apparently put in the wrong way and the front fascia will be getting replaced as after numerous conversations with the dealership about not putting a front license plate bracket on it and numerous reassurances that they don't put them on any mustang let alone a Shelby-the new guy/newly unemployed guy put it on----and it's not even straight! Dealership is going to fix scratches, fascia, spoiler stripe all in one visit (will wax after repairs)-they offered to keep it until fixed, but had to order new stripes,fascia-I declined that offer and we agreed I could bring it back on a Monday and pick it up on Friday.

Initial observations of my car:

1. hood scoop looks great-no lifting after extended drive yesterday either

2. Stripes looks great (except one on spoiler needs replaced-bubbled badly)no bubbles, minimal small scratches

3. Shifter is very tight-but I love it! (I've found the sharp edge that has been discussed)

4. exhaust rattles, but sounds great

5. drives AMAZING-I am really in love with this car

6. It is quick and really dialed in-very fun to drive (more so as I become used to it),especially on curvy roads-I am really in love with this car

7. The looks you get while driving it are fun-had state trooper pull up beside me yesterday, look it all over, then give me 2 thumbs up! Pulled back even when leaving the stop light and gave me another thumbs up after hearing it!

8. spoiler looks great on the car

9. The whole car is just amazing looking (better while I'm in it since I can't see the botched license plate bracket from there!)-they are a little difficult to drive if the dealership leaves your floormats in the plastic bags though!

10. no issues with hood pin ring tension

Quick funny story---There was a gathering of neighbors talking last night and my neighbor lady, who we are very good friends with, told me she has told her children to stay away from my garage as she doesn't want any thing to happen to the car-I looked at her calmly, with a straight face and said "okay, but I've taken out burial insurance on all the neighborhood children just in case"-her husband laughed, but she looked at me like I want to laugh, but I think you may be serious--I love messing with her like that.

Amy, John, Bud and the crew at SAI-you build one AMAZING car thanks for making my dream of Shelby ownership a reality! John, special thanks for helping me get it completed and shipped and I appreciate all of your help/info-hope I wasn't too much of a pest!

Everyone else thanks for your help with my PSDS (read as putting up with me while I waited, and waited...) and all the info and conversation-those still waiting--they really are right, the wait IS worth it and will completely dissapear from your mind when you start your SGT up the first time. Don't give up on your SPP orders-mine I ordered the first week of July arrived Thursday (they called me Monday to tell me that the t-shirt I had ordered was DC'd, but the rest would be on the way-pleasant surprise) I sent Bud an idea for their catalog--Shelby logo on the front, script on the back "yes, it's fast....no, you can't drive it!"

3012 info: Black, charcoal int, 5 speed, GT premium ,IUP with satin alum panel, shaker 500, active anti theft, lower billet grille/driving lights, Shelby sequential tail lights, GT500 spoiler/striped, billet engine dress up kit, black billet shorty antenna, one really happy owner (will post some pix later-memory card for digital camera is ruined)-have the Shelby logo console cover, not installed yet-I'm probably going to have an upholstery shop do it so I don't mess it up.

I have the Shelby car cover from Ford-fits the car very well, looks nice.

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D

larry,

Now if it ever stops raining in Illinois we can hook up all the cars. Maybe you can take the lead and get us together. Steve

That seems to be a big IF these days Steve. I did meet a really nice guy yesterday who lives here in Roscoe also and he is another SGT owner-we had a great conversation and he seemed as if he may be interested in a little road trip meet & greet also.

Hey Dream,

Congrats. Sorry to hear your dealer put on the front plate bracket. Sounds like he is making it right though. Great story, thanks for sharing. I agree 150% this car is an absolute blast to drive. I also wish I had a better work schedule and it would stop raining in IA & IL. :P Some nice fall weekend all of us IA/IL folks are going to have to get together. I say Isle of Capri Casino in Marquette, IA or Prarie Duchien, WI. It's right on the Mississippi and very pretty country. The great river road has lots of twists and turn our Shelby's would like!! Dave
