Shelby GT Database

Recommended Posts

I know we have the SAI SGT Registry on this site, but I've also been creating my own database for months (even before I knew of the SAI registry) because I could see me being some sort of concourse judge some day. In fact, I think all of us should consider that role as we'll be the experts and since we're spread throughout the country (and Canada and the UK if I recall).

With that in mind, I actually started my own spreadsheet months ago. At first I started it because I couldn't remember who was who, who had what, and who got their cars already (still get confused sometimes). But I later expanded that for the concourse judge thing.

I'm wondering if anyone is interested in providing input to this and sharing your info. Since I've been pretty busy, I haven't been able to keep up with it. I have also been trying to save listed SGT's on eBay so I can someday put that info on the spreadsheet.

If you all wouldn't mind, please feel free to update the spreadsheet online. If that's not possible, download the spreadsheet, update it and then email it to me (or email just your info). Then hopefuly we'll all have the same accurate info.

Here is the link (it's in my signature too): http://groups.google.com/group/shelby-auto.../files?upload=1

My email is adams.shelbygt@gmail.com.

Adam

edit: see post #4 below for more details.

AFBlue, you'll see I didn't forget you with the 2008 Worksheet.

Hey Adam. Just looking at your pics man.

You do know it's ok to smile, right? :D

Yeah, I know, I keep forgetting. I'm really one of the happiest people you'll ever meet in your live, but I can't smile to save mine. LOL.

No, really, I just take horrible pics.

Anyway, here is the link to the database below. I put it in my signature too. It took me a few hours to clean it up and remove all the personal info many of you have given me over the last few months. I figure that many of you just might not want your info posted so I thought it was best to remove it all and let you all fill in (if you wish) this public spreadsheet rather than get mad that I kept too much info.

Also, some of you will see that I had some of your info up top but hadn't yet put you in your assigned CSM row. That's because I just hadn't yet gotten to it. Sorrry if I forgot some of you, there was no real rhyme or reason for whether you were on the spreadsheet or not. If you're up top, simply cut your row and paste it in the row it should be and cill in the rest if you wish.

I'll also post this at the first post #1 above too so it's easier to get at.

Isn't there an official Shelby GT registry? Wouldn't it be easier to access that (assuming it's publically available)

Thanks AFB. Yes, I would have gotten to that at some point.

You're correct, SAI will have a Registry which I will purchase when available. I just figure that until we can buy it, maybe we can have our own partial list (ie a few dozen rows filled out). I don't expect that we'll have nearly as much info populated here as their databases will. They will have a lot more people. We'll just have a few compared to their whole completed list of 6000.

So, I don't want to cause any concern. If anyone feels like entering some of their row in the spreadsheet, great. If not, no problem at all. I expect that many people will have a problem with their info out there and I certainly understand that. Almost all the info I have in the spreadsheet was from reading the posts or signatures. I took out anything I figured people might not want on the list. Again, I really started it because I kept getting confused about who was who, who had what and who already had their car. Then I just kept adding more things to it.

Adam,

May I make a suggestion to your spreadsheet?

Make the username a hyperlink. Where applicable, hyperlink to a thread where the owner annouces "I just got my SGT" or something like that. That way folks can click on their username and get a lot of details on the car including pix.

The links next to the names I provided above are often like this.

Great suggestion.

Thanks everyone for all your input and emails so far. This is all great stuff. I will gather all the info and update the original spreadsheet over the next week or so. I am assuming that if someone sends me more detailed info than it's okay to put all that info on the spreadsheet which will be available for all to read.

Also, the more I think of this whole project, the more I feel I should check in with Amy to make sure she doesn't have a problem with this. I will email her tonight. Again, I figure we'll only end up with a few dozen datapoints (more like a sample) where any registry will have a complete list of 6000 07's and 2200 08's.

AFB, if Amy is okay with this and since you seem to be into it too, if you want to take and run with the 2008 section, feel free. Make sure your name is under 08SGT0001. LOL

I'll do my best on the 2008 section.

LOL. I found this quote from me on TMS back on 13 Aug 2006

Yeah it may look better but I vowed after owning 3 black cars in a row, that I never would own another (too lazy to clean every few hours). Thus white is my preference of the 2. But sure would be nice to have a Vista Blue if Silver is going to be the only stripe color.

http://forums.bradbarnett.net/showpost.php...98&postcount=20

Then on 3 Dec 06 I asked AmyB

Amy, Vista Blue with silver stripes for 08. Think about it :)
and she responded
Already have, love that combo....lol

http://forums.bradbarnett.net/showpost.php...4&postcount=194

I'd liked to think I had a small role in this but I doubt it (Probably was in the works for months). Regardless, I'm happy it's available.

PS: I've requested 08SGT0023.

It's probably a good idea to start our own database. The traditional "center of the universe for Shelby" - SAAC - is snubbing the Shelby GT owners. When I inquired about the SGT Registry (note they have one for the 2007 GT 500) - I got this email in response. Did anyone else get one? Does this mean that SGT's aren't real Shelbys in the eyes of SAAC? Are SGT owners going to get ignored at SAAC events?

SHELBY GT owners: The Shelby Factory is currently conducting the registry for the new Shelby GT's. Please contact them if you wish to be in their registry.

Thanks for your interest in SAAC

Don't think this is the case here....I had an extended phone conversation with Richard Klein about a month ago. I believe they do welcome SGT owners even other non-shelby owners, however he advised me he and another SAAC associate were still working on the database. At that time he expected it could be up and running in about 2 months or so, but to keep looking for it because it was going to happen. As a new member they send you a package which includes a registration form for the SGT among other Shelbys.....He has already received a number of these completed forms and informed me he would contact those owners when the database was up.......

Just my 2 cents....

.....I think it is just easier for SAAC and SAI to complete the database using SAIs registry because they already have most of the information in their system. All we are really adding is our names and stuff. If SAAC does give the Shelby GT and GT500 owners the cold shoulder then I won't renew my membership and I will remove the decal.

A personal experience, I had very favorable response from vintage Shelby owners at a show presented by the Orange County Chapter of SAAC.

I agree with you Socal, but until that happens, I figured we could have our own list for now. Again, my initial start was to remember who had what, when and how. I definitely don't want to step on anyone's toes which is why I checked with SAI and am awaiting comment. Who knows, maybe they'll like that we work on one too to help verify some of their info, especially since not all owners will get on to the SAI website and upload their info. It took the SAAC many years of members going to car shows and writing down the info and mailing it in to them. They still have a lot of incomplete info.

You're correct, they'll have all the info and details, but I'm guessing that not all those details will be published. I don't mean the details of the names, emails and other personal, I mean the details of who got what when and how (for the concourse stuff). When I look at the 1997 SAAC registry, they only list things like owners, Ford VIN, Shelby CSM, and other minor info (although I did see a modified 68 GT500 with a 10.64 on the 1/4 mile - car # 00080 - page 926). They don't list all the options and not much details on the various fixes while in production. They list that info in the beginning of each year model but it is impossible to know when the fixes were done since the cars weren't done in order.

Regarding the SAAC, I think we should wait and see what happens before anyone cancels. I read that note as SAI is handling the registry. I know that the SAAC is really busy based on some recent orders I placed and knowing they have new registries coming and events to manage. Maybe SAI wants to handle it and then work with the SAAC at some point like Ford did with the SVTOA. Plus, I mentioned this a while ago, I view the SAAC as a historical entity as well as a club. For free, you can email/call their people any time to verify a vintage car's authenticity.

  • 2 weeks later...

I've been plugging in entries into Adam's spreadsheet from various sources and now have info on 242 SGTs.

Many are just ebay entries that Roger kept track of, but at least you know the color and transmission type. Also looked at the SGT map website for info there and have been slowly going through the posts on here.

As far a colors go: 55% black, 45% white (of the 210 that I have color info on)

And for transmissions: 18% are autos (31 of 172), 72% manuals.

One final note. We still don't have 3 consecutive SGT CSM #s in a row.

LMAO.....somebody get Mark a large blue pill with silver stripes for his PSDS :P

....anybody live close to him for a white or black I.V.

Mark, you've been working your butt off with this and it is very much appreciated. We should chat so we work off the same spreadsheet as I have been doing some updates as well from your previous work.

Sorry about that Dread, I pulled it since there were many revisions already. I have been tied up with work and the whole Tasca thing (and getting my car). In coming weeks I'll work with Mark to update it.

Meanwhile enjoy the Shelby songs that Stump-breaker recorded.
