SLB8SNK
Not to add to the confusion, but I received this email from my Ford Dealer today "hi dan, i have great news, the owner just informed me that he got a call from ford and they told him that next week they are going to issue a build week for YOUR new car. in a couple of weeks i should no when that is. as you are reading this i know the excitement has been raised another notch. when i recieve word i will email you immediately. i'll talk to you later, thanks again, dave" Small dealer, doing their best, I get these, and they just create more questions for me. Does this mean soon? This was my response to an email I sent stating if the car was going to be built during the MI winter months, then I was requesting a dealer drop ship closer to my home. This dealer is 200 miles away. Anyone care to help me decipher???
rpretzel
There are really no guarantees when it comes to the build schedules for Shelbys, but I'll share some of my experience. If the dealer said you'll be assigned a build week, that means first you will be getting "Serialized" which means a VIN number will be assigned to your car. The next step is the assignment of a "Segment Date" which is the build week. Mine was Segmented the same day it was Serialized (March 1, 2007). I actually took delivery of my Shelby on May 4th. Based on my experience I would think you are within 2-3 months of getting your Shelby. Here are the steps according to Fords "Where's my car" tracking system: 1. Receipt Date: Date Ford received the order from your dealer. 2. Serialize Date: Vin Assigned 3. Segment Date: Build week 4. Sequence Date: Build Day 5. Blend Date: Basically, this is "Woo Hoo! They started building my Shelby" 6. Produced Date: Assembly complete 7. Gate Release Date: Date your Shelby is released to transportation carriers for shipping 8. Ship Date: Date your Shelby leaves the assembly plant (i.e. Sent to Autoport) 9. Arrival Date: Date your Shelby arrives at the dealership 10. Sold Date: The day you pay for and pick up your Shelby. So, according to your dealer, you should be sitting at step 3 sometime next week.

They told us then, but, I forget now.

Alloy Dave
Ok so today I was told I have a build week of the first week of September... does that mean they HAVE my VIN????? Unsure. Have you asked your dealer? Have you called customer service? One of those should get you the VIN...and it gets a bit easier from there.
