KingCobra
I've heard in the past, due to the limited edition of the SVT mustangs, that the engines would be signed by the technitions or were numbered. Does anyone know if this will happen with the new Shelby Cobra GT500?
TruBlu01
SVT hand builds/tests their motors and signed by the two technicians that built it
crispy23c
It is my sincere wish that they have a corresponding Shelby serial # for all these cars, too. That would be very, very, very cool.
KingCobra
What would that mean exactly Crispy??? KingCobra.
crispy23c
What would that mean exactly Crispy??? KingCobra. 1965 through 1967 Shelby Mustangs have a serial number tag riveted atop the Ford VIN on the driver’s side inner fender panel. In 1968 the Shelby serial number was a combination Ford VIN/Shelby serial number. The Shelby number again is riveted into the cutout area in the inner fender panel on a metal plate. The Ford VIN appears in the normal windshield position. In 1969, the special Shelby serial plate no longer appears on the car’s inner left fender and the cars are identified in the same method as other Mustangs. A special plate, however, was pop riveted just beneath the warranty plate, which read, “SHELBY AUTOMOTIVE”. See these examples, hope this helps:

I did not hear anything like that. If true, you can bet those cars are going to "VIPs", not us regular Joes (and Josephines)...I still like the Shelby plate idea...if he can't sign it from the factory, we need a plate. We can always donate for the signature...
Fastbackman
That would be cool. The 1989 Dodge Dakota Shelby I used to have had a similar tag on it with the CS logo. It also had a number plate on the dash stating 2725 or whatever number it was of 7500 and had a copy of Shelby's sig engraved in it.

No Coldwater, I never heard anything like that. But, I agree with Crispy, we would never likely see any of those cars anyway. KingCobra.

KingCobra
There's no way Carroll Shelby, at 83 years old is going to climb in and out of 100 cars to sign them. Although, I like the thought (assuming one of them is mine). KingCobra.

I'll check my info & see if I can dig that back up. I thought it was on some video footage from the barret jackson auction? does anyone have that taped where they can check? I remember reading that they will be incuded in the Shelby Registry, and all the other cars in the registry have production numbers seperate from their Ford numbers, although it may just be production # tacked onto the end of the Ford VIN #.
