Yeah. My question at this point is how do I get the referee to believe that the tune on the vehicle is the one associated with the CARB E.O number, and therefore California Legal. If this was done intentionally and CARB accepted the tune as is, how do I go about getting documentation from Carb or Paxton that says that the tune IS legal, even though the Cat monitors are unsupported? I have printed out and showed the referee the CARB document for the E.O number, and he just said that I need to get the tune associated with the E.O number. I tried telling him that the car and tune is as is from Shelby, and not modified. He said back quite rudely that "Your father must have modified the tune then..." I know absolutely for sure he did not.

The tune will have an id number. Have Paxton send you a letter saying what the EO tune # is and show the referee they match.

You could also research the EO documents to see if they contain anything useful.

OK!

Forgive my slight ignorance, but where would I find the tune ID number? Would I be able to find it with the Diablo Predator hand held tuner that I have?

Well it seems like another California Paxton owner is in the same situation. Their Paxton equipped SGT won't pass California smog check because the cat monitors are turned off.

The Paxton's previously did not have a problem passing California smog checks but that was before California changed over to OBD Inspections from the previous tailpipe inspections.

The problem now is how to you get California to recognize that they signed off on Paxton's computer tune when they issued EO D-195-21

Wish I had the answer.

Are you talking about H0050 or is this another individual that is going through the same issue as me? If so, feel free to have them PM me. Id like to hear their story. Hopefully this doesn't end up being a trend.😫

I agree! If no easy solution is found, we may end up registering our car in Iowa, where some of my extended family lives. No smog checks and cheaper registration!

CSSHELBYKID, did you ever get this resolved?

I am happy to say I have made a lot of headway. About 2 months ago I was able to get answers and a new tune file from the guys at Paxton. According to their tuning specialist, the main reason that the Cat monitors would have been turned off in the tune would have been if the tuner expected the vehicle to get long-tube headers. Makes sense to me, except that my car has stock OEM headers, so that part is weird. What still seems weird is that if long tube headers is not a part of the "normal" GT/SC package, then why is it that there are multiple vehicles that have the monitors off. Maybe just a mistake by the original creator of the tune.

Anyways, it was supposedly simple for them to fix it. Literally just a click of a few buttons and the updated tune was emailed back to me.

I have yet to install the new tune on the car mainly because of the current events going on. The car needs driven to reset all the monitors for the drive cycle after the new tune is installed, and unfortunately, the roads seem to be full of people that must think they are professional NASCAR drivers or something. I have seen more unsafe and 100+MPH drivers in the past 2+ months than I have ever seen. As much as it frustrates me to no-end that I feel I can't enjoy my car, I just don't want to risk something happening to the car.

I will definitely give a final update once the car is officially re-tuned
