Problems at the track

Recommended Posts

Went to the track for the first time today. Took the shelby out and was sorely disappointed. As soon as I shifted into third, she choked down. Any ideas why? Does it sound like I hit the rev limiter (already engaged in third gear)? Car is stock with the exception of exhaust. Any ideas or help would be great.

What r.p.m were you shifting at ? Could have shut off at 6,200

Well, I thought I was closer to 6,000, but I could see my reaction being slow. Is 6200 where the limiter is from the factory? Maybe I just need to learn to drive a little better. Still got 13.2 at 108. But I just wonder what I could have done without the shut off. Sounds like a tune is in order. Thanks for you help.

If TCS was on, it was probably kicking in and killing power. It's usually pretty good, but I've noticed some situations where it really hurts.

These cars also heat soak and slow down very quickly, partially due to factory programming. Keep the hood up between runs.

Stock rev limit is 6250, and you should shift right there.
